I signed up for Math 21A, but wanted to switch to Math 17A, but it’s full. Now I need to sign up during Pass 2. Does anyone think there is a fair chance for making it into Math 17A? I’m planning to transfer out of L&S into the college of biological sciences.

What classes are you guys taking? And how many units? What changes do you guys want to make during Pass 2? Classes fill up so fast! But I guess Pass 1 is just so that everyone has a fair chance to sign up at orientation. Pass 2 will have the waitlists and all the seats available to the students as an entire body.

For your first questions based on pass 2 I have no clue about since I’m also a new undergraduate to UCD. As for the other questions I’m happy with my classes. I currently am one 16.5 units (Math 21B, CoCalc21B, English Workload, Chem2A, and Fresh Seminar). I have too many units cause I probably will be dropping English Workload (I couldn’t take the English Placement Exam cause my mailman lost my ticket) because I’ll take the english placement test on the 20th. I wish you the best of luck on getting Math 17A.

Hey I’m glad you have the classes you want. Maybe I will see you in Chem 2A in the fall. I’m a new undergraduate too, and I didn’t pay much attention to the class registration lectures. =[ My bad. Thanks, I really hope I get into 17A! How did you get into a seminar? I’m so sad, my orientation leader said it was highly unlikely to get into one, at least Q1.

I am also hoping to switch into 17A from 21A, since I was/am also in the Letters and Science which makes it a lot harder to get in. For Chemistry 2A, I plan to switch my time too. Hopefully things work out…

@iProcrastinate- hope to see you at chem too ^^
And I thought it was easy to get into a freshmen seminar? That’s what my orientation leader told me.

It is quite difficult to get into any of the MAT/CHE classes in Pass 2 although you may want to try your luck in waitlisting in Pass 2. Do NOT rely on getting into those prerequisite type classes since everyone needs to take it an most likely will not relinquish a spot regardless of how horrid their schedule looks.

For example, Communications 003 (CMN 3), which almost everyone needs to take, I could not get a spot until my Fall quarter of my 4th year. Waitlisting is futile.

I’m mainly speaking from experience for that particular class. Many students are required to take either CMN 1 or 3 to fulfill their lower division coursework. The majority of them are from the engineering college but there are many more. The class is only taught once per quarter unlike your typical MAT/CHE classes which may have more than one professor teaching the same course.

I’m the same with Monkey and Reach. I got the last classes on my list and all of them are random stuff for GE reqs.

I want to waitlist for MAT17A, but if everyone else seems to be fighting for it, then I don’t see it happening. Of course I’ll be crossing my fingers they just open up another class.

At any rate, as long as I get my reqs done in 4 yrs I won’t complain. It was great how at orientation some of the first leaders we met were superseniors. Wonderful…as if paying for 4 years wasn’t bad enough already!

CHE and MAT classes filled up so quickly it was unbelievable…I had no idea this would happen and freaked out during registration because I didn’t prepare extra classes xD

(Hey Indianjatt, don’t relinquish your spot in a CHE class to try to get another time, because that spot will be gone)
