Professor Reshetikhin's Math 1B lecture isn't full, but all the discussion sections for this lecture are full. Since there are about 200 more open slots for the lecture is the professor or someone going to open more sections?

Yeah, I know, I noticed this a few days ago and this situation is REALLY screwing up my schedule as I have 6 hours of back to back classes 2 days a week unless I can switch discussion sections. I really hope that some people switch or that the maximum number of students per discussion section is increased :(

I decided to skip up to 53 instead.

This happened last year for the same class. Just waitlist for the section you want and you should be fine when they finalize and open up the additional sections they will add to accommodate the lecture size.

If the section is already full, is it even possible to waitlist for that section? Doesn't telebears just block that section?

If the section is full and you want to add it, you get placed on the wait list for that section. You also get placed on the wait list for the lecture as well.

clapyourfeet - Did they increase the size of the discussion sections or simply add more of them at the same time slot? Should we wait for this to happen and enroll in one of the new sections when they pop up (if we wait list on the full section, then the people on your section might stay in it, while all the new spots will be taken up by the future CalSO students)? Do you remember around what date this happened?

I don't know what they did. I was starting to panic because classes were weeks from starting and I wasn't in the math class, so I asked people here about it. I forgot what kind of advise I got, but I ended up putting the section that suited me best on the waitlist. And one morning, like magic, I was in!

How are people on the wait list for sections that aren't even open (see sections 115 and 104)?

Yay, they opened up a couple more sections and made some already existing sections larger. I'm still waiting for another TuTh 11-1230P section to open up though...
