Hey everyone!

I'm planning of taking Math 20B+Chem140A+Physics2A on my first quarter at UCSD. Do you think this is a good schedule or is it too much?

its doable as long as you don’t slack off like many people their first quarter.

You think so? Is there like any resources at UCSD like tutorial sessions?

I think that it can feel like a pretty heavy workload if you aren’t used to it. Nevertheless, as Rypto said, if you put in the work it is doable. OASIS is a tutorial program at UCSD that has sessions for all of the classes you mentioned. Here is the link: [OASIS UCSD](http://oasis.ucsd.edu/mstp/mstp.asp)
I have never used OASIS but a couple of my roommates did and they said that they found it to be really helpful.

:D Exactly what i want to take this Fall =] but i might add a UP writting class instead of physics

I’m thinking of kicking Physics out this quarter now and adding BICD 100 instead. I’m confused. lol

That probably won’t make much of a difference in your schedule. Physics 2A and BICD 100 are somewhat on the same plane of difficulty. If I were in your situation though I probably would take BICD 100 instead because I am not a math person and I don’t like my schedule to be math-heavy. But if you are okay with that, then either class works.

As for getting extra help, I have never needed to seek outside resources than what the class offers. Each class has TAs and the TAs as well as the professors have office hours where you can get your questions answered. There are also discussion sections where you can ask your TA questions. That is usually enough for more people to do well in the class, but if you need more, there is OASIS.

You should have 4 classes per semester.
My schedule: Math 20D, Chem 140B, Physics 2CL, Bild 1
My first semester at UCSD was: Math 20B, Chem 6A, Mae 9, Doc 1
It was hard but duable. Keep your 4 year plan

if you’re just taking those 3 classes for fall quarter, u should be fine. but if u are thinking of adding a 4th class, i would suggest against it.

Let me put it this way. Normally I would recommend signing up for 4 classes and then dropping one if it’s too hard. But I’m also not saying that you have to take 4 classes. If 3 is good for you, 3 is good for you. The way I see it is that it’s a lot easier to have too many classes and drop one and then have too little and add one because you might miss out on a lot of material from the first week or so of class. That’s just my opinion.

^yep thats true, but the courseload that he mentioned (phys2a, chem140a, and math20b) is an already tough one. But i would do what u said and just add a 4th class (an easy class), and if its too much, just drop. It all depends on what the person can handle.

I used to do 4 classes a quarter… **** it. I just stick with 3 per quarter to maximize the GPA. There is no point with more as long as you finish your degree in time, unless you want to take more classes for fun/interest.
