hows the class overall? Difficult easy medium? You guys know any place where i can find past exams from the class. Lastly I wanted to ask if there is some sort of preliminary test like on the first day of class covering old calc concepts or something. I took calc a few years ago and dont rember the details as much, so its probably good if i review for something like that. did get 5's on both exams though. thanks,

The class is pretty bad. The teaching (at least during my semester) was just a guy writing examples on the board that didn’t help anyone understand much. I didn’t really “learn” anything, just how to do certain problems the correct way. I did well but I feel its because everyone else did badly.

Tests are on the 215 course site. Theres no prelim test, but theres a gateway test due the first month. You go to a computer lab and do some easy integrals. Theres really not much you need to know from BC calc, just how to take derivs and integrate at the start and they build on that.

It really will depend on who your professor is. When I took it, the professor was ok, but we had to do labs, which were quite difficult and worth a substantial part of our grade. I have heard that labs are no longer required, but not sure if this is true.

The class itself is relatively straightforward. It’s a little bit harder than other calc classes, I think, because you need to be able to visualize and sketch the solids you are graphing (the class is entirely in 3-D…triple integrals are a main topic). It is imperative that you have integrals down pat (i.e. substitution, by parts, and partial fractions).
