Math 2C help

I bought the sparknotes 5 practice test book so I could practice some before I take them in January. I'm having a lot more trouble than I expected on the test. I can't remember all the formulas and stuff. Although a good amount of the questions can be done by plugging in or graphing w/ my TI-89, it takes too much time, and I'll never get through all 50 questions like that. Does anyone have any suggestions how to study? Are all the tests fairly similar in the kind of questions they ask, only with varied numbers? If thats the case, then I can just study the way to go about the questions I don't know on my practice test and hopefully get them right on the actual test.

Anyone know how to do compount interest on your TI-89?
How about probobility problems?
Is there any other things you use a lot on the TI-89 in the math 2c test that will help me out?

Forget about your calculator for some of the problems (or at least for sparknotes). I am using the exact same book and i only use triangle solvers, the graphing functions and (once) a program for determining the area of a triangle given its coordinates.
compound interest formula =Principlex(rate of interest +1 like 10% is 1.1)^time.

Use Princeton review and sparknotes book (its free online) for prepping.
Useful things on TI-83 for me, at least, is plugging in limits problems in the y=, 2nd tableset or sumthin like that, set to ask, then go to table and plug in the x value it asks for.
there are synthetic division programs also, but by hand is prolly just as fast.
email me for questions, (same as username).

You can post specific problems from the book and i will help you, up till test 3 (thats what ive gone up to so far)

Thanks asher, I'll keep it in mind when I'm going over the tests. I usually can figure out the problems when I see the explanation, its just the time factor and knowing what to do right away that are the biggest problems. Are programs for the TI-89 legal? Like ones where you enter the given info of a triangle and it will tell you the other angles and sides instead of using law of sines or cosines?

yes all programs are legal. Theres triangle solvers for ti83 too. Most of the stuff is on the 83. I am not exactly sure what the 89 has that the 83 doesnt. 89 can simplify trig equations.

Anyone know how (or what for) to use the solve, Alpha Enter, button on the TI83?
Heh, I wrote my own triangle solving program. At first i copied 2 parts of it online but figured out the commands and did the rest. Its kinda a learning exercise.

Try not to approach each problem with the attitude of "how can my calc solve this program". Just try to figure out how to solve it regardless, either way is good. Some of the time, at least with the 83, the calc can do it but by hand is faster. I am still contemplating borrowing an 89 tho.
