<p>My D is taking AP Calc AB. They way I see it if she passes the test she will get out of Math 151 but still have to take 152. It looks like most are being advised to go ahead and take 151. This does make sense to me as it would be a little scary jumping into the second semester. But does this mean that the test is irrelevent?</p>
<p>You need at least a 4 on AB to get credit for 151/171. The test is not irrelevant, because many students choose to to have their AB/BC credit taken and move onto the next level of math or have no math at all. People that already have credit for AB/BC and are talking Calc I/II are just trying to master the material and get an easy A.</p>
<p>Talk to your advisor. They will have a valuable spin on what Math class to take and why. This is their job, and my experience with the CHEN dept is that they are beyond competent. They are honest and look out for your child. However, be prepared for an honest evaluation.</p>
