Math IC/Math IIC

Is it suggested that you only take one? That's what I thought originally, but I saw someone on here who took both....

No you can take both, people usually take the IC as sophomores then IIC as juniors. But its really about the level of math you have taken and your knowledge of it. Personally, I skipped the IC and take the IIC.

I also skipped the IC. I thought the IIC was easier. But it depends on your exposure to trigonometry (more on IIC).

The tough curve (there is no curve) usually scares people away from the IC and they take the IIC because even 5 wrong can be an 800 sometimes.

However, I don't understand why people are so afraid of the IC curve. If you know the material, then as long as you don't make any stupid mistakes, a 800 is not as impossible as it seems. I just went super slow on the test when I took it so I didn't make mistakes.

I would take Math Level I.

I need to complete my testing by registering for that test.

S had finished pre-calc and took IIC in June- got a 680. He got 740 on IC in May. No prep for either. His roommate got 710 on IC and IIC- no prep but had finished honors Pre-calc and had 780 on math SAT.

what are u talking about?

if u miss 1 on Math IIC then u won't get an 800. i've never heard of a person who got an 800 and didn't get all the questions right

What are you taking about? Wow, get your facts straight...

I was planning to take just 2 satIIs on that saturday. One of them was the MathII. I took the test at the end of my junior year and I barely studied. Also I had taken pre-calc sophmore year so I forgot a lot of important material. Aanyway, a couple of us were in the same boat so during the break we decided to take the math I. For me it was a bad mistake. I did ok on mathII (in the 700s) but my score was significantly lower on mathI. I believe that is due to the curve.

My point if you have taken pre-calc one or two years ago and you did not study that much take the harder test. Even though you think it might be harder you will probably end up missing the same amount of questions on I or II. so with the bigger curve on II you will do better on this one.

of course it also matters with the type of person and testtaker you are.

If you miss one on the Ic you will not get 800, but you can miss 6 on the 2c and still get 800.

hmm... sorry, I guess i'm wrong. I didn't miss any on the IIC. The reason why i thought u had to be perfect was that not many people I know got 800s

I'm an incoming sophomore...I took Algebra II this year, and am taking Trig/Pre-Calc sophomore year.

I took the IIC in June and the TRIG on there was just some basic sines cosines tangents. It was a easy test overall with some exceptionally hard questions.

Well everybody should laugh at me, I took both tests and did better on the Math IIc by 50 points. I thought it was hilarious. I found 2c much easier and I'm not that much of a math person.

If you know precal good. then take the IIC. The question types make it so you are less likely to make careless mistakes. Also the curve is generous. But then...that is if you REALLY know Precal

Uh - how do you know you missed none on the 2c?

hey socrates. I did 60 points better--and got a perfect on the IIC. beat that. (its cuz I was sick on the day of the IC)

well..I don't think I CAN beat that...but I actually took both the tests in the same sitting. (same day).

It really depends on what you want colleges to see when they see your resume and scores. If you want to show off that you are an exceptional math student and wish to join some math/science related area in the school, take IIC. If you are an english/humanities person and don't want to emphasize your math skills but still want to show them that you are capable and well rounded, go right ahead and take IC.

FAKEOUT

take the IIc...............i took both on the same day.......got a perfect on the IIc but 30 points lower on the IC!!!!!!!!!

IIc will be enough!! and yeah....its much easier!
