Can one score make up for the other? Particularly, can a 700+ Math I Subject Test score make up for a 600's Math SAT score?

no is the only way i can put it sorry

700-750 for a math subject test is average(not super good) and even if u had 800 i dont think it would make up for it

consider retaking?

Don't listen to dude.
Although your scores are contradictory,
Math I requires a whole lot of pacing and thinking ability;
the content is also more difficult.
I'm sure they'll weigh it more seriously.
However, DO take the SAT Is again, if you can.

Top caliber schools prefer Math II, by the way.

Thanks kwu. Unfortunately yesterday was my last SAT Reasoning take... I have to retake SAT Subject tests in January so that's why I am considering Math I or II.

The thing about Math II is that I'm only in precalculus honors now. I'm wondering if that's enough. I just want some way to help de-emphasize the idea that I am just bad at math...

i am not being mean i am being honest which is more helpful than liars who just try to make u feel good the truth of the matter is that most of the applicants are going to have above 700 in both which automatically puts them above u in that regard

that being said i am not saying u dont have a shot because they might accept u if everything else on ur app is really good, test scores are not everything, but should they accept u it will have nothing to do with ur satii canceling out ur lower math score

my advice is shoot for the math ii in jan i took it when i was still in precal and got 800

How did you prepare for the math II? Do you think two months is enough to prepare for the Math II 700+ while I'm in precal... I just looked at some practice questions.. oh my they are hard.

I mean, by your logic.. there are plenty of people with SAT I Math 700+ scores too, it doesn't mean you shouldn't try to get it yourself? I suppose the same is for the subject test. I am just wondering if getting a 700+ in the subject test will help my case.

i dont understand the question???

and it took me like two weeks of independent study on math ii because a lot of the stuff wasnt covered in my class but math has always been my strong suit sry if im jumping to conclusions if i say it might not be urs but two months should be enough if ur dedicated

speaking of math tests...
i have taken subject tests twice. first round, i took bio (740) us history (750) and math II (600). second time, i took literature (700) and math I (640). princeton only requires 3 sat subject tests, but they say they will look at them all. do you think that the bad scores in the math II and math I are going to hurt, even though i have 700+ on the other three?

where did u find nemo?

hm thats a good question... i'd assume they'd only really consider your 3 highest, even though they can see the others. hopefully they'll just realize youre not super-strong in math and wont penalize you for it.

yeah i guess it doesn't help that my math grades from 9th and 10th grade are my lowest grades in highschool ever. ohwell
