I've heard throughout CC and from many other sources that Barrons is the best book for preparing for the Math II subject test. Do I need to buy the 2008 version, because I heard that one has much harder tests than the actual, or can I buy the more recent 2010 version? Is there no difference, or is the 2008 the best one?

I just borrowed it from my library and took a few practice tests. I don’t think you really need to prepare as extensively for it as the SAT I since it is primarily a knowledge-based test on precalculus. I found that the 2008 version was fine in preparing me (it’s well-known that Barron’s has harder versions of the test so that could help you in preparing for the Math 2 subject test). I used Barron’s (the 2008 version) and I ended up with an 800 on the real test, so I think you’ll be fine using that version.

so should i use the 2008 or 2010???

If you will buy it, then buy the cheaper one. Otherwise, borrow the 2010 one from the library if you feel that will be more helpful.

I used the 2010. Same results. I did 60 points better on the actual test than I did on the Barons practice tests.
