Math II

I was just curious as to how the difficulty of the Math II questions compared to the SAT math and AP math questions. That is, the SAT questions are mainly quite simple but the very last few in each section are designed to be harder and can be quite difficult (tricky?) from time to time.

The AP exam (from what I can tell from Calc BC) asks questions that show you understand the math concepts and how they can be applied in certain situations. They aren't so straightforward as to ask what 9 x 9 = ? But there didn't seem to be any abstract conceptualization questions that sometimes show up on the SAT.

So, how does the Math II subject test play out? I understand that it covers a greater range of material than the SAT math section (it's supposed to go up to precalc, right?).

Math II is joke if you’ve taken BC. If you took BC, your guaranteed an 800.

Ah, hmm…

To be honest that didn’t answer my question but I definitely feel better about taking the test now. Thanks :).

You’re not GUARANTEED an 800 just because you took Calc BC. But it will be significantly easier. I know that some pre calc topics are never gone over again in calc. So it’ll be good to get Barrons and skim over the topics covered on the test or that you’ve forgotten.

Math II is harder than the SATI math. SATI tests more on logic, while SATII tests more on what you learned. The questions get increasingly harder. The hardest questions I remember were like the last 5 questions. And I thought the questions were pretty straight forward.

Ah, I see. Thanks :). That definitely helped.

I actually thought that Math II was much easier than SAT I math. When I took Math II, I had just finished Alg2/Trig at the time, I did a couple of practice tests, and then I got a 800. I think it was easier for me because I had just learned a lot of the material covered. Like post#4 said, SAT I (and Math I) tests logic. A lot of the questions are tricky- even though the math level is supposedly “easier”. I did worse on the SAT I than I did on Math II when I took them this year. Math II is definitely more straightforward and less tricky.

People get 800 Math II and 700 SAT Math all the time.
