My son took a CC finite math class over the summer with hopes of avoiding a poor grade at IU if he applies to business school...math is his weakest area. He just obtained his grade today and unfortunately got a C- (not transferable) due to a poor final exam grade. The question is what is his best course of action at this time. There are almost no openings in finite math for this semester and those that are conflict with other classes, are unknown instructors, or instructors with poor reputations. Should he wait until next semester and take finite with a good instructor and if he does can he avoid calc until after he applies to Kelley if he takes all the other courses. (He is taking Intro to Bus, Accounting, Business Presentations this semester and plans to take Bus. Comput. and a math class second semester). My impression from "ratings" is that McKinley and Orrick would be good possibilities. Any inside info would be appreciated.
If he switched into 118 this semester, he would probably drop Astronomy.

I suggest he just wait and take Finite Math next semester with one of the two professors you mentioned.

There is no rush to get into Kelley unless you want to get into the Mitte Honors Program and complete all the courses needed for the Honors designation. In fact, some people think it's a bit of a penalty getting in too early since you have to pay the school an extra $500 per semester once you are admitted.

I thought that everyone paid that $500/semester fee, regardless of if they were in the school or not? That stinks, I am paying that fee and it's a joke. I can't use any of the career resources yet, I can't interview for jobs, and I'm paying $500/semester? For what? I'm going to try and speak to someone about this.
