Math placement classes

So I just finished my math placement test;
passed ALG part with 72%
went onto TRIG with a 61.8%
and finished PRECALC with a 36.7%

They said my placements were :
MAC 1114 and MAC 1140-Trigonometry and Precalculus*

So now I'm a bit confused lol. Which class did I get into? Both?
Can I choose which one I want to take?
For example, what if I want to take a lower math like College Algebra (just an example)?

Yup, MAC 1114 and 1140 is Trigonometry and Precalculus, respectively!

As far as recommendations of a class to take, do you have a major in mind yet? If so, go to [University of Central Florida: Academics](Academics & Degree Programs | University of Central Florida) and click Undergraduate Majors on the left, to find your major and check out its curriculum. You can find out exactly how deep into math you must go.

As for those classes! College Algebra is really like a primer/refresher course, and is comparable to Algebra II or III which you may have taken in high school. You do a lot of work with polynomial equations/inequalities, which works its way into functions. Precalculus essentially picks up where this class leaves off – graphs of the common functions, and how to determine where & how they fall on a plane.

I see Trigonometry often called “easier” than Precalculus. It is certainly much more spacial and visual than Precalculus, but whether or not it’s easy depends on your interpretation. There are certain topics from Trigonometry that you will definitely need to be familiar with (at the very least) to not be thrown for a loop in Precalculus – namely, unit circles and the trigonometric identities (sine, cosine, tangent, etc.) I’d recommend taking it before Precalculus unless you know that stuff like the back of your hand!

EDIT: I forgot! Yes, you can definitely take College Algebra if you want to. There’s always a chance that it may not count towards your degree, though (although it more than likely does!)

I’ll be majoring in Hospitality Management, and I only need College Algebra, but tbh since I took Precalculus this year in school, I don’t want to ‘lower’ my knowledge.

Yes I learned most of the stuff in Trig and a little bit of Precalc (at least when I looked at the math placement test questions) :)
