Math Placement Exam RESULTS

Hi, I'm an intended Econ major and I took the Math Placement exam and got a 39/40. I was placed into "Math 118 or 125" and I was wondering if this was the highest placement possible or if there was a higher class I could have been placed into had I gotten a 40/40.
Thank you very much.

I don't know for sure, but I'm pretty sure this was the highest. Calc I is Math 125, and I think Math 118 is like an Intro to Calc. I don't think they place you higher than these classes since the placement test didn't test Calc material. Those were the math classes I got placed in too.

yeah man, thats the highest class-i asked a usc officer. you got it

Sorry to burst your bubbles, guys, but the placement test is to screen for placement in remedial math. In case you are not ready for normal beginning college math. So a high score is not that meaningful. The AP Calculus test can get you to Calc 2 or 3, though.

I know this is an old thread but I just was curious, I just took the placement exam and tested into 118/125 like most people. Um I took advanced calculus in high school but we don’t have the same system, hence no AP exams for anything. If I say take 125 but find it like really easy or repetitive of high school is there a chance I can get I think its called a d-clearance to take a higher/more challenging class?

For language classes, you can take a test to score out of a class. It might be the same for math.

you can’t test higher than 118/125 on the placement test

Not the math placement test for orientation, as in testing specifically at USC during the first few weeks of class to get placement into a higher class. They do that for foreign languages, perhaps for math as well.
