Math Placement Test(s)

Can someone please explain the math placement exam system at Pitt? I basically have one question: I've taken Calc I and II in High School, and would like to place out of Calc I (possibly Calc II). I don't, however, want to take AP exams. Does Pitt offer a placement test to place out of Calc I/II? I understand that only AP scores will transfer credit, but I don't really care about that, I am just wondering about the placement.

Thanks.

Why don’t you want to take the AP exams? You’ll earn college credit for them which is a big advantage. Also, I don’t think Pitt will allow you to place out of Calc I/II unless you take the AP tests. There are math placement tests, but only Algebra and Trig as far as I’ve seen. What is your intended major?

The only way to place out is through APs. There isn’t any other system. You might as well take the AP (it’s just 1 test) and get the credit and clear up some space in your schedule. It’s definitely worth it.
