is math placement test mandatory for incoming freshman class of 2017. What if one has
AP score of 5 on Calculus BC ? still have to do the placement tests ???

Yes, you must take them the placement regardless of AP score. Yea, I know feels kind of pointless when you have a 5 in Calc BC.

Thanx. And what about physics and chem placement tests ? Are they also mandatory for
ECE ? How do AP credits work in here. Are we placed according to Placement tests or
AP scores?? i am a little confused . Would appreciate someone explaining this in detail.
I have my summer registration coming up real soon .

Go here to see which placement tests you need to take by clicking on applicable college [New Freshmen, Center for Teaching Excellence, University of Illinois](New Freshmen) Engineering requires math, chemistry and physics. The two science tests are ones you take for use to discuss with counselor as to which course you should start in. If you have AP credits, you will get them if you skip the classes for which you get credit. The placement test does not stop you from making that decision but if you do badly on placement test, counselor might advise that you not accept the AP credit and start in a freshman year class. Note, as long as you do some refreshment study for the tests, you should have no problem with them if you took AP classes.
