Oh how I love to debate, and fire people up. :D

Well either way. If you did ****ty on the SAT's (especially the math part), you might not be a good engineer. If you struggle with reasoning problems, you might want to transfer into arts :)

And obviously you aren't Ivy material, because Ivies don't accept people with poor SAT scores like yours.

Oh now you are trying to tell me that the SATs will measure my ability to excel in a certain field of study. hah...suuure.

I'm sure if my daddy was a Harvard professor, I'd be ivy material, regardless of a biased test :)

You were just saying how you struggle with reasoning problems. And pretty much struggle with what 'males are good at.'

If this is the case, Engineering might not be for you, and you might want to do something else. I've done a ton of career searching, if you're interested. Afterall, I don't even really want to be an engineer. I'm just getting an engineering BSc because I'm good at it; because I am good at reasoning problems, and other engineering things. Then I'm going into Law. And I'm guessing you'd call the LSAT biased too right? Because it's purely logic and reasoning? lmao

The LSAT is so incredibly biased that it's ridiculous.

I mean maybe engineering might not be, who knows, but I'm still going to give it a try. Regardless, I'm going to do something with computers since that comes easily to me and I enjoy it. If I did not do engineering, I'd try Information Systems.

The LSAT is designed to test people's logic and critical thinking skills. These are skills necessary to being a good lawyer. It isn't biased. You can't have a test that all people are good at, or there isn't a point to the test. The point of the test is to measure one's ability, and that is negated if certain people don't excel at it.

And if it's gender biased, please explain to me how over half of the Law students at my university are female.

I was yanking your chain. ;)

Yeah, I realised that after I sent my post.

With regards to the SAT measuring intelligence: When the SAT was first introduced, long before any of us existed I'd like to add, it was originally marketed as a measure of intelligence. Since then the College Board has realized that thanks to people like Courtney they can't claim that the test measures any specific thing without causing a public uproar. With time the purpose of the SAT has become increasingly vague and convoluted, to the point that now all they really say is that it kind of sort of has something to do with predicting your college GPA. The SAT most certainly DOES correlate with IQ (although this statement is probably only opening up the door for a misinformed tangent about biases with the concept of the IQ). I know I've read studies that I could probably find again on the Internet on this topic, and even common experience confirms this. I have yet to talk to someone in the 2300+ range that I thought was an idiot, whereas I have talked to plenty of people significantly below that range that proved to be idiots, such as Courtney.

This provides a nice segway into my next topic.

With regards to Courtney: You are most certainly not Ivy-league material, for reasons that do not concern the SAT or high school effort. You are STUPID. It's really that simple. If you disagree, just go back and read what you've said in this thread. Don't worry though, you aren't alone. Stupidity is a very common problem in my experience.

The SAT is what it is so just accept it. Women have so many advantages over men in our society, so don't complain. You don't hear us whinning that the draft is biased against men, scholarships(particularly engineering ones) are biased against men, divorce court is biased against men, etc.

710 math
770 level 2
760 level 1

where can that get me in for engineering as a female?

This thread is so wonderful.

Hahahaha. Oh man.

Courtney, admit it. You lost, big time.

Courtney, just drop it. Nobody can prove that SAT is biased against females (I even don't have clue how you can come up with that in the first place). If you're that concerned about your less than flashy math SAT scores, well, then don't be. You will go to a college you deserve to go (Ivy league or not) and do well in it. Most people here may not realize, but not going to an Ivy is not the end of the world. You can still be successful in life without going to a prestigious school. And heck you bet I do believe that you can do well in college with a sub 600 Math SAT score so long you're willing to work your heart out (your sister is a living proof, ain't she?). Stop complaining and move on.

Wow, definition of a feminist (or feminazi...just kidding)

I did drop it when I joked earlier about the LSATs, if you did not realize that then thanks for your stupidity then :)

And I am not trying to get into any ivy league schools anyways so I really could care less, but a lot of colleges shouldn't weigh so heavily on it. And for that, I am done with it. If you want to continue to criticize me then sure go ahead. Call me stupid, tell me this, I could careless. Like you know me or something...oh alright. And women having advantages in men in this society? Are you serious? The business world these days are majorly run by men, and like it's not hard enough for a woman to get hired? I'm sure if you read up on the glass cieling effect you would see that numerous women in this society have it tough when it comes to finding a job. But hey think what you want. :)

This has gotten incredibly humorous. lol

All thanks to you, Courtney. All thanks to you.

Ironically, last year at my high school the only person who scored a 1600 was a girl. She also was the only student ever to have an average test score in AP Physics above 100% (only like 2 tests have 1 ec problem each in the class).

SAT I MATH: 780 SAT II Math: 800 (Level II) > Both 1st sittings

Actually, I'm glad I could arouse some of you (probably for the hundredth time today). You throwing criticisms at me is very funny. I'm just stating an opinion and justifying what I think. I did not turn around and criticize any of you, well, until now...hah. :)
