May 2011 - Biology (E/M)

AmanSh, i’ve read the AP cliffs cover to cover and plan on reading the barrons. other than that i had a great teacher this year (highest AP success rate of any teacher in my school). I think scores come out around the 25th.

thanks @ scuba. good luck to you

and to you

After reading everyone’s posts here I don’t think I got any of them(at least the ones discussed) wrong… I felt really confident about this test, but I know I blew the physics test. Ehh. Is it worth cancelling a good score so I can get my bad score cancelled too?

on a side note does anyone else remember what were the other choices for the crab question?

What was the best way to see if the clams were of the same species?

DNA sequence

Okay, what about that really hard question about “What shows change in viruses such as HIV or Ebola?”. I said I only about mutations, but I really didn’t understand the other two choices. Anyone else?

For the rat and gallbladder, I said to cut the motor neuron.

I also said that green light would cause the most change.

For one other, I am also still unsure. The one with pine trees on a mountain, I thought the answer was easily E, the one about water evaporating too quickly for pines to utilize it. Why would that be wrong?

And a last one, I thought that the level of dissolved oxygen being less in warm than cold water was correct but irrelevant in regards to photosynthesis, what I believed to be the topic of the experiment.

I’d love to hear more of what you guys think and why some of my answers might be wrong.

what is 10char

Are you sure? The definition of “species” involves them being able to mate with each other, so I picked the answer that seemed to accomplish that

there was no answer like that

The last choice was “move them to a new environment,” which would allow them to mate with each other.

I never thought about the possibility of them mating in the new environment. But I really, really think that you’re thinking about it too much. I’m pretty sure it was just DNA. Though the mating thing should have been a choice.

Here’s hoping for an 800! xD

@djumper

I omitted the HIV question…anyone?

How about the blood pressure vs arteries, veins, and capillaries graph? What did you all put?

i did pretty badly on this one…it’s the first time i’ve taken it, and i’ve been practicing on sparknotes which really doesn’t prepare for this one at all

please, does anyone know if the sat2 bio M is usually this hard? i was hoping for an 800 but i guess not…i’m really thinking about canceling my score (and i wanna go into the medical field so anything bio-related is kinda super important), and i really need feedback cause i don’t know if all of the tests are usually around this difficulty level

thanks!

I said blood pressure is highest at arteries

@ankitp4t3l. Yes, I put that also! It was tricky because another option was that Artery cross-section is greater than one of the others’ cross section, which confused me.

a bit off topic here- but does anyone have any insight on possible essay topics for the AP exam?

Right, but the question asks “Based of the data shown”, so I think we’ve got it!
