May 2011 - Biology (E/M)

cambium dividing, mesophyll chloroplasts

yes kwcty6888 10char…and diurnal 10char…it said most birds in the question and most birds are awake during day

^ yay! Thats what I had, too.
(kwcty6888)

cambium cells give rise to secondary (width) growth. palisade mesophyll has the most chloroplasts, gas exchange was guard cell

For the pigment question, I was actually debating between green and red. Green is a plausible answer for obvious reasonw - chlorophyll reflects green light and thus would not allow for photosynthesis, but I went ahead and picked red only because it’s on the other side of the visible light spectrum.

The molecule was a lipid because it had two hydrocarbon tails and a phosphate head, the characteristics of a phospholipid to be exact.

Just out of curiosity, did anyone else do E? It seems like most people did M.

hesterprynne, i agree with you!! this test was administered in october 2009 and the general consensus then was the it was the higher temp is closer to the enzyme optimum temp!!

what did you guys have for the substrates
C02 H2O one

I did E

Which biome had low nutrient soil and broad leaved trees? Rainforest? I actually pu savannah cause the low nutrient threw me off T.T

Tundra for close to ground plants?

10char^ gregbob

facedownclap, i put E as well

@facedownclap: I put CO2 and H2O (it’s E rite?)
Anyone confirms the color light question?? I’m so confused :-s

And the last group of question (Bio M) is confusing too. Which gene can be used to analyze the relationship between Human 1 and 2? And which one is the least different between the experimented organisms? :-s

@gregbob: yay!! But someone above said photolysis does not require enzymes (which seems to be right, I am having my book with me and it says nothing about enzymes) I just did not remember if the answer has the word “photolysis” in it…

Put E also…
I said rainforest for low nutrient soil and savannah for close to ground plants O.o

low nutrient soil was tundra…wasnt sure about the close to ground one but i put savanna

Ya I’m pretty sure it was enzyme optimal temp
And yes, rainforest is broad leaves nd poor soil nutrition

tundra because it said high latitude or high altitude i think

low to ground plants was tundra, it said high lattitudes i think. low nutrient soil was rainforests… the last question i put whichever one was the most different between the two organisms

I dont know about you guys but that test was extremely easy/joke. For the first 60 questions all you needed was a first year biology class and some anatomy background and you were set. The ap biology played mostly in the molecular section.

wouldn’t call it a joke. wasn’t that bad, but definitely not a joke

torture i thought… but guess not…
