October 2011- Biology E/M

So who's ready? I'm still doing some last minute cramming...

Ha, me too. Thank God for Rosh Hashanah. Now I have two extra days to just cram everything into my brain.

I’ve got break too, just going to review some topics and take my 6 practice tests :)

Unfortunately, I had to teach myself most of it so I think I’ll pull together a passable score, but not looking forward to Saturday at all. :(

just knocked down 2xx pages in barrons. a bit to much info in the book. hopefully ill break 720 this time~.
thinking of going through pr for a few things like the heart/hormones and taxonomy.
—ROAR—

hopefully i’ll do it all by the hr? after that i gotta do math 2 cram D:

Ahh, Taxonomy… how well do you guys know the stuff about Sponges, Cnidarians, etc?
?

I’ve really just given up on Taxonomy and am focusing all my attention on the other more important info like Human Physiology and stuff like that.

By the way, did any of you use Kaplan to study for the test? If so, how realistic were their practice tests because they have so much information and I just feel overwhelmed right now. I’m praying that Barron’s will have everything I need right now.

I read Barron’s and I’m reading Princeton tonight. Apparently Barron’s has “more than enough information” though? Not sure though.

Guys, can we use this thread for random important information & ALL questions? Just bring up anything and EVERYTHING you want so we can all help each other out!!
(There was one for Chem and it helped a lottt for little things you never remember to study)

I have Barron’s, Kaplan, and PR. Out of the three, I feel that Kaplan is the least suitable book for the SAT II. PR has good details on the human systems, but is severely lacking in other aspects of the test, namely plants. Barron’s, on the other hand, has way too much info than the actual test requires, but I still think that if you’re aiming for 780+, then you need to know Barron’s material. I’ve seen practice questions where they ask for some detailed concepts not provided in any other books. And, if you know anything about Collegeboard, one or two questions in the test can mean a big difference in your score.

I am using Barrons and PR, and I have a copy of the Blue Book for Subject Tests so I’ll be taking their test today…

I’m focusing mainly on experimental questions, then I’ll review topics that require intense memorization, such as hormones.

I suggest you guys use quizlet for topics requiring this type of memorization:
[SAT bio- hormones flashcards | Quizlet](http://quizlet.com/5407523/sat-bio-hormones-flash-cards/)

How hard do you guys think it’s going to be?

I have a sneaking suspicion/hope that it might be easier than all the Kaplan, Barron’s Practice Tests I’ve taken.

I’m also doing Barron’s. I took AP Bio last year so now I’m just cramming to relearn everything and remind myself everything that I have forgotten.

I have also been taking the Sparknotes Practice Test: [SparkNotes: SAT Subject Test: Biology: Test Center](http://testprep.sparknotes.com/testcenter/sat2/biology/) . It’s very helpful and has an in-depth analysis in the end!

@hluoluoluo, From the practice tests I have taken so far, it seems pretty easy. It’s definitely quite a bit easier than the AP Bio exam…

@parallelism, I will definitely use this quizlet! Thanks! :)

I definitely need to review blood types, circulation, cell processes, and organismal biology.

Anyone taking Biology E?

I’ll most likely be taking M… has anyone completed the SparkNotes tests? I’m about two take the last two of them. There are quite a few typos in SparkNotes:l

You’re allowed to look at both E and M. I took the test in 2009 and I planned on M but I found the E test much more manageable. If you have time you can do both sections, but be sure to erase one section REALLY REALLY well.

I’m going to review take the 2nd Barron’s practice test, review biomes, hormones and neurons, then take the SparkNotes tests, and call it a day. Hopefully I’ll be prepared:D

Ugh…I’m so nervous…I took it in May and did terribly x_X (670) hoping to go up to 750 or so! Do you guys think its possible?

o god. bombed my first test in barrons with a 650 T.T

can anyone tell me if this would actually be on the test: “all of the following about plasma membrane structure and function are correct except:”

would such a question be on it?

LOL I remember that question… the answer was all plasma membranes have the same structure and function?

I agree, I find a few of the questions riduculous. For example, one of them required you to convert nm to mm, and do some pH calculation. There was also a Hardy-Weinberg problem on the second Barrons test…

is material like this even going to be on the test?

hardy weingberg was on it last time i took it. i ended up omitting it cause i had no idea what it was before.
