***MAY 2015 Subject Test - US History***

Would 15 wrong and 5 blank be about a 700?

“By the end of the 19th century, Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming had enfranchised women after effort by the suffrage associations at the state level; Colorado notably enfranchised women by an 1893 referendum.” wow never knew this…but even if a few states in the west allowed women to vote, wasn’t the answer too all-encompassing; that all women could vote in the West?

@fireonice it was asking which did not describe the newly settled westerns I think late 1800’s:
definitely diverse, women could vote, more men than women, high extractive resource economy
then the native American tolerance, which I think is wrong
I put high extractive resource economy because I was thinking the shift towards ranches and towns after gold ran out, but I’m wrong because there were other resources

I put Oregon for the US military acq’ns question which was wrong :frowning: Also got the Irish painters one wrong I think (wtf were the other options), got the Phyllis Schafly/Betty Friedan quote wrong, got the New Left Port Huron statement wrong.

Any other questions you guys can think of?

Things I’ve checked so far:
Eisenhower: Interstate
Bloodiest war: Civil War
Desegregation of armed forces: 1948 by Truman
Native americans already existed with maize
1950s: Television
LBJ Great Society was similar to New Deal
AIDS led to gay/lesbian advocates
Split in Republican Party led to Wilsons election as a democrat
Pentagon papers = US distrust
WW1 started after Germany unrestricted submarine warfare (NOT Lusitania)

any others question u can think of

@ComputerAge those all seem right except I’m still not 100% buying the native americans maize haha, though I might be wrong (I put fur trapping; both seemed to be true when I looked online).

From Wikipedia: She says in The Power of the Positive Woman, “It is self-evident…that the female body with its baby-producing organs was not designed by a conspiracy of men but by the Divine Architect of the human race”[13] Furthermore, “the Positive Woman looks upon her femaleness and her fertility as part of her purpose, her potential, and her power. She rejoices that she has a capability for creativity that men can never have”.

So it was definitely Schlafly

It is definitely the maize answer. Trust me on it! The indians had not established a ‘COMMERCIAL fur trade’ and any fur trade at all.

@MileSwimmerDude you have it the wrong way round. antebellum means “before war”

What would 12 wrong, 0 skip be?

@MileSwimmerDude Antebellum means BEFORE the Civil War. Look at the prefix.
@fireonice If I remember correctly, fur trapping was characteristic of the Midwestern and Canadian Indian territories. Remember the French?
The SparkNotes curve is probably very inaccurate. Depending on the difficulty of test, the 800 bound could stretch from 75 to 85, and possibly even outside of that range. Unfortunately, we’ll never know unless we decide to work for ETS.

@CarlinOnCampus oh oops

yes they did trade fur, but amongst themselves and not commercially as the answer implied:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_fur_trade#Origins

Thank you guys for clarifying. Now I realize regular fur trade is probably different from “commercial” fur trade. So it seems like maize was the right answer.

What was the one with the Virginia company’s goal in coming here?

@alldaboston The Virginia company’s goal was to make profit. I think I got 8-12 wrong & I didn’t omit any. Hoping for a 770-800!

I think I’m gonna get around 15 wrong and 5 blank :frowning:

Hopefully -15 is still over a 750…

This is going to be a long wait.

Hey @glasshours you’re on the Chem thread too! Like me, beast!

@alldaboston - Haha, I’m also on the Math II thread. And AP Chem thread. And AP Physics thread. Sadly failing all of them. :stuck_out_tongue:

This was rough…
