May SAT 2011: Writing Section

^the answer was Indeed, scientists now… there was a debate earlier and i think most people agree that was right.

does anyone here remember any questions from section 10 off the top of their head? also, how many pages was section 10? 2 or 3?

Also, can anyone specify what is "the scientist " one for the identifying errors problem that is E. No error???

section 10 was 3 pages.
I think one was “Just as sprinting requires speed, so ________________”
(I put running requires endurance)

And another one was weird:

blahblahblah “were she to have brought her suitcase” or “was she to bring her suitcase” or idk, something along those lines, with that and souveniers and such.
hopefully that jogs your memory :D

Just as sprinters require strength, so marathon runners need stamina.

I chose choice A on that one, was it correct?

^yep i think most of us got that

I chose “running requires endurance,” the way I remembered the sentence is how I rewrote it ^^above

wow how did i just leave out thelast four questions. none of these sound familiar to me at all. do you remember if there were 2 or 4 questions on the last page? and do you remember any questions from section 10 besides these? maybe im just totally forgetting everything.

Numbers 11-14 on the last page
Can’t remember any of the first ten :(

i can say with confidence that the “indeed, scientists” answer choice was incorrect. i remember spending a lot of time on this question. indeed is like saying “in fact,” there was nothing from the sentence in the previous paragraph that would connect to the statement about the scientists, they were two completely different ideas. furthermore, “at least in part from” is redundant. the sentence should have been either just “at least from” or just “in part from”

cmon, use your brains guys. this is part of the reason i don’t really like some of these SAT discussions, because there is a “bandwagon” effect, and people will often agree on the incorrect answers

^very true, yet the question required you to find the best TRANSITION from paragraph one to two. I thought of the same thing, but you have to answer the question.
Also, the last sentence of the first paragraph mentioned the need or something like that for research on animal play.

@ruthie: okay, thanks. i just really dont know how i disregarded an entire page!

Dont worry I missed it too! Thankfully I think I only got 2 or 3 wrong, so a 680 - 720 is still possible. Anyway, does anyone remember the other options for the transition question on the passage, I can’t remember what I put. But I do remember that being an awkward question

jesus 2-3 wrong is 100 points??? :(

sid - answers were something along the lines of “change ‘animal play’ to ‘this behavior’” and things like such

No no jd! LOL - that would be beyond brutal - dumb old me forgot there was a back page to the writing - so 2 wrong 4 omitted and an 11 or 12 essay will normally get you around a 700…

I honestly don’t remember what I put

@sid: yeah im pretty much praying for an 11 or 12 essay at this point to salvage my score. After the test i thought i possibly could’ve gotten an 800 on writing too. wow.

Yeah I walked out of the test and was like - %^&^ YEAH! I GOT A 750 - 800! Then i got home and go - HOLY &^%$! IM AN IDIOT

Oh well - retake em in June…and any increase over a 610 is a good increase

how can something be more edible? its either edible or not right?
