I was looking at last summer's schedule, and it says Urnov taught MCB 102..and he got terrible reviews on ratemyprof, but everyone here says MCB 102 over the summer is easier??

Also, anyone with experience of taking physics 8b over summer? What's it like?

Thankssss :)

wondering about mcb meself.

physics 8b is fairly tough, and rather exhausting if you’re taking another class with it. Two MP a week, and lab/disc every day with lecture at 8. However, Buehler (if he does it) is a pretty good teacher and his tests are fair (well most questions lol). There’s also a really good GSI who has been teaching for the past two years, including this past summer, but I don’t know if he’ll be back.

eek… so would you recommend taking physics 8b over the semester instead? Is it hard to get an A in the class?

Anyone else with info about MCB 102 over the summer?

Don’t take Urnov if you actually want to learn. He gets sooooo behind and people might say it is because it was in the summer but B S to that. My friend (who also took 102 w/ urnov) actually liked him, but when she took MCB 140 (actual hardcore genetics) she actually got fed up with him and now hates him. She was pretty upset that he only covered 1/3 of the material which sounded the same for 102.

actually sno, i’m glad i took it over the summer because i think buehler is a pretty good teacher. the only downside to doing it over the summer is that it just kills your summer. doing physics four days a week/3.5 hours per day is absolutely no fun.

Great. thanks batman and calbear…

I guess I’ll take MCB 102 next semester for sure then, since better teachers are teaching it…

Physics 8b over the summer doesn’t sound that fun, but I’ll think about it since it’s with a better prof. thanks!
