I am well aware that McCombs wants leadership and EC’s. I have about 7-8 EC’s(including honor societies, student council, etc) but only ONE actual elected officer position. Will this hurt my chances? What does McCombs really mean by leadership? Does it HAVE to be an officer position, or could I showcase my leadership in the description area in the Applytexas site on the extra curricular page.
Also, does anyone know or have a guess what the NEW Sat scores will be for averages? Same with Class Rank(I’m an auto admit btw).
Leadership means demonstrating an ability to organize/delegate/get things done. It doesn’t have to be in an elected officer position, as I already told you in your other thread. We only have averages that each school/major posts, and I haven’t seen if McCombs has published them. A quick Google search would tell you.
Below is the link to an old thread from when McCombs published average rank and SAT. (The link in the thread is broken now.) It’s probably reasonable to assume that the statistics then on rank are roughly the same. Occasionally you will find information on the website that will answer your question but right now they don’t have any stats listed- they update a lot and it might come back once they get their freshman class in place. For new SAT, no one knows. You can only guess by using the college board concordance tables between old and new SAT. Don’t forget, there are likely to be far more people submitting ACT scores this year given all the changes.
Admissions reads applications- not McCombs. Applicants are scored with an AI and a PAI. I linked to this document in another of your threads, but here it is again:
You are given a PAI based on your file that does not differ by school applied to. More competitive schools might require a higher PAI. If you read the description on page 32, the PAI takes into account a lot of things besides leadership. You should cover all the PAI factors well in your app.
So McCombs not reading application means that they do not read the essays as well? What if you are trying to showcase leadership in an essay? So the UT admissions office reads it…I think I see.
With this being said, can you send updated standardized test scores to UT even after you submitted your application? Also I thought they use the PAI and AI for non auto admits and out of state…thing is that I am an Auto-admit.
@gettingschooled Thank you for the helpful page but it says they use it for non auto admitted students. That being said, how would they determine acceptance for an auto-admit(my case).
Read page 33. It says that the grid is used to assign you to your major for the competitive majors including business.
Applications are due December 1 but test scores can get there as late as December 31.
@gettingschooled So assuming that more applicants will send ACT scores, do you by any chance have an idea what a competitive ACT score would be? Also, you’re right, even though it says non-auto admitted students/OOS are evaluated through the AI and PAI I think they still use it for all applicants in McCombs, since it’s 100 Holistic
