MCD Bio Class Conflict

i'm looking at what classes to take for my first quarter as i'm planning on a molecular, cellular, and developmental biology major and i've come up with

cowell core course

math 11a

Chem 1a

BUT math 11a and chem 1a are going to be going on at the same time (2-3:10)

what alternatives would i have?

I heard there is some sort of new chem rules/program where you can take either Chem 1A and Chem 1B your first quarter as there is no pre-req so you can take that. I also look online and there are two professors teaching Chem 1A this quarter so maybe there another time you can take it if it works for you. If those two options don’t work you can always put Chem or Math off for one quarter. Chem 1A is offer both fall and winter quarter and Math 11A is offer every quarter.

Daydreamer81 is exactly right. You can do either Chem1A or Chem1B your first quarter. If you have to put off a class, put off math. The chem courses can be very hard to get into. Many don’t get into them their first quarter.

Yeah, those two were also my top choices but then I noticed the time conflict. Does anyone have any suggestions as another “fun/easy” GE?

There are so many subjects but none of which really interests me in particular…

music class is a good class, it sometimes satisfies 2 or 3 GE requirements. i’m not sure what music class is being offered this fall, since i already satisfied my arts requirement. another interesting class to take is female physiology (amazing professor). theres no “easy” GE though. they all require a good amount of work if you want a good grade.

FYI, there are TWO chem 1A classes offered this fall quarter. If you can’t get into one, get into the other if possible.
