McGill Decisions Class of 2021 (entering 2017)

Ahh!!! That’s incredible! Did you get in? What were your grades like?

@MCW2017 Yes that is normal. If you get D’s or F’s then admission may be rescinded as at any university.

@lenaseltzer yes I did get in!!! I was actually really suprised to hear back so soon because my grades aren’t spectacular. I had 3.5 unweighted GPA, 33 on my ACT, 1370 on SAT, and I take all IB courses (HL history, HL music, HL latin, SL environmental, SL english, SL math, theory of knowledge).

Hope you hear back soon!!

@TomSrOfBoston I applied to Mcgill arts and sci in early Jan. My status still says “ready for review”. I’m an international Student. When can I expect an update?

@anniee3434 What was your status on Minerva when you uploaded your grades?

@rukoki My status was on “further review required” and stayed like that until it changed to “accepted pending final results”

Late to the game here. DD (American) was accepted to Faculty of Arts (BA) and Faculty of Science (B Sc Physical, Earth, Math and Comp Sci) on 12-5-16. 4.0 UW GPA (4.0 scale); 31 ACT; school doesn’t rank (but top 5% based on Cum Laude induction junior year). Applied 11-5-16. Minerva indicated app was under review @ end of Nov. when she uploaded a revised hs transcript (long story but had to do with a semester in Italy in 10th grade). Next day, fortunately she looked at portal which asked for interim grades (she uploaded print-out from hs’ grade book). A few days after, asked for hs transcript and interim grades again for some reason, so she uploaded again. Received acceptances to both faculties just a few hours later! Only needs to provide proof of graduation; can submit AP scores for advanced standing.

Moral of the story – keep checking Minerva in case they are asking for more info!

@anniee3434 I’m already at reviewed-decision pending.

Does anyone know if they automatically recheck your file when you upload a new document even after it has reached reviewed-decision pending? Or do they not look again once they have finished reviewing?

@rukoki my checklist was complete for about a week and nothing changed, but I uploaded a new version of my transcript (there was a mistake on the original) and got a decision right away. So I’m not sure, but I’m assuming they looked at my file because I had uploaded a new document. Not sure if that helps but it might

I’m trying to find when I can expect a decision, but looking at past decisions from people with similar stats who were also at reviewed-decision pending, it seems almost meaningless. Some had decisions within a few days, others at the end of May. Hopefully, it will be soon, but I’m not sure.

@anniee3434, @Rukoki, et al: McGill has rolling admissions which means that notifications go out to applicants once the decision is made. The windows for decisions are based on origin of application (Canada, US, etc.): https://www.mcgill.ca/applying/nextsteps/decision.

Obviously, if you are significantly above a cutoff (from last year) you should expect to get admitted earlier but if you are close(r), McGill will ask for more recent final year interim grades and it will take longer. It seems logical?!

If you are also applying to schools in the US, you are likely to hear from McGill (and other major Canadian schools) by most typically US deadlines.

@anniee3434 You might want to ask @SwimmingDad, his son was accepted recently and should be able to answer any questions you may have.

Finally got my S1 grades onto Minerva. Hopefully, I can find out soon. Hoping for the best.

Can any one guide me how to upload my latest grades in minerva.upload new version means?

@Rukoki Remember it took about 9-10 days for my S. Hopefully with the strength of your numbers it will be sooner for you!

@mah In your Application and Documentation Status page in Minerva, scroll down to “Checklist”. There should be an “Upload” link in the box under “Date Received”. Click on that and it will walk you through the steps. Just make sure you have the grades in a PDF doc (that seems to be easiest) on your hard drive to upload. Good luck!

Im in the same boat as you are my friend @Rukoki… My application status changed to further review required on feb 7th and they requested a summary of my activities… I’m an overseas freshman therefore they wanted me to apply as an undergrad and later send them grades for the sake of getting credits…
The wait is killing me… Its our exam period and i find myself spending longer hours on minerva than studying…
I NEED MY SUFFERING TO END.

New requirement just showed up in my D’s checklist: High School Graduation Proof

How can she provide that NOW??? Has anyone seen this requirement in their application?

@DBPrincess My guess is that acceptance is on the way, HS graduation proof is required for all accepted students come June.

Thanks, fellow Bostonian  (@TomSrOfBoston) and stay safe shoveling

@SwimmingDad Was your son’s status also Reviewed-Decision Pending?

Thanks!
