McGill Decisions Class of 2021 (entering 2017)

@Braindrainer not really, personnally i don’t give a damn fuck about trump or anything, i applied in canada as well as the us too, but also in spain and france as backup plans
if canada is my first choice it’s only because i’m half canadian and I live in a country (morocco) which is absolutely beautiful but not that great for education, and i’m so fucking tired of the french educational system

also, if i choose canada over the US it’s also because i can’t access federal financial aid in the US, which means I’ll have to pay 10 times more in there, but for mcgill my tuitions are around 5000 dollars as I was born in quebec, so trump isn’t the one bothering me here or making anyone change his mind

Decision - Accepted (Faculty of Arts)

Stats
Country of residence: Denmark
Curriculum: IB

GPA: 3.74/4
IB: 38

I uploaded my mid-year report, and within a week I was accepted.

@Florabuckets

hey, may I ask when did you get your decision? I applied to Faculty of Arts, too, with a 40 IB predicted score and a GPA around yours. I’m also an international student and I’m still waiting…

@Lins99: My comment was meant to suggest the presence of world (political, social, etc) trends… that might impact University applications or the uptick in the number of apps in Canada.

@Florabuckets: With 40 IB score you should have have no issues with McGill Arts. You are significantly above their '16 watermark: https://www.mcgill.ca/applying/requirements/minima/ib

@ryukkane Hi! I applied around late November and just received my decision a couple of days ago. You have a great score, so I wouldn’t worry about it!

Is the 38 your predicted score? Or your mock score??

@k_03 did u apply for U of t or mcgill, and where r u now?

@Ehhu Applied only to McGill. My status is still ready for review.

@CosmicMaria: Yes, solid scores on the SAT might be helpful particularly at your level; however, they are only formally required from US high schools students in addition to SAT II subjects tests (or ACT) . SAT is not required from international students outside of US at McGill unlike some other schools (as per comment by @TomSrOfBoston).

@Ehhu I applied to U of T (comp sci) as well as McGill (faculty of science); got into U of T in December, McGill is decision pending.

Has anyone received a decision for the nursing program yet?

still nothing from mcgill yet, status still saying “further review required” even if i sent them everything they asked for since january 20 (even the things they added)
what does that mean? (once again, i’m a french baccalaureate student coming from outside the us and canada)

@Lins99 No need to stress out, it means that you have nothing more to do but wait for them to process your application; considering the fact that they process them by comparing your academic profile to the candidate pool in its whole and that the deadline hasn’t been reached yet (15/03), this could take a moment for them to give you an answer.

@steminem4122 , how is dat U of T gave out their decision so early, when did u apply?
And could u tell ur stats so I can consider if I can get in too or not :stuck_out_tongue:

MODERATOR’S NOTE: A reminder that the Terms of Service require that all posts be in English. Thanks!

@Haderisme actually i didn’t have time to take it again, so yeah i got more than 21 in each section except for one where i got 20… do u think i still have chances ? I mean, based on my grades do u think it could be okay?
thanks for ur answer by the way!
sorry i had to re-answer u because my post has been deleted as I answered you in french!

Congrats to those admitted, and good luck to those waiting on decisions :slight_smile:

@Ehhu I applied in September so they would have time to review my application and possibly give me an earlier decision :slight_smile: Chances of getting accepted are very tied to which program you apply for, like McGill faculties. I had about a 34 ACT, a 4.3/4 weighted GPA, and a couple AP classes (4s and 5s). Good luck!

@RobbieK where are you from?
Congrats by the way! I’m also applying for the faculty of arts, I hope i’ll get the same decision as you did ! ^^
