To all of you perplexed by the agonizing ambiguity of the Minerva codes and statuses. Here are Mcgill’s official deciphering of each status of Minerva and what it indicates:
https://www.mcgill.ca/medadmissions/applying/after-youve-applied
(Third drop down)
Applied Dec 06
Had submitted the supporting documents until Dec 12
Jan 05 the status changed from Ready for Review to Further Review Required
They wanted my german system grades (go to an international german school, where we get graded in the german system but our counselor translates them into a high school transcript)
Uploaded the new transcript the same day and nothing has changed since
The status stayed Further Review Required but the Checklist has not been updated, so for me, it looks like I have uploaded everything
I have called the admissions office, they told me that it looks like they have everything but that it is weird that the status has not been updated
Have contacted IT support they can’t help
I am slightly stressed because I am scared that there is something missing and I will get rejected because of it
@politcaldoctor you will stay on “Further Review Required” until a person touches your file again. I stayed like this from end February until today. There’s no reason to panic as long as your documents are there
@Theoddorre thanks, it’s so stressful to not know when you will know
Your status changed today? Did you get a decision?
@politcaldoctor Yes, I got admitted today. Applied Jan 10 as an international. Btw I checked my portal every single day since I submitted my documents.
@nuttyprofessor thanks a lot!
I have been checking Minerva everyday for the past two months. Slightly worrying to see the same status there still. So, if “ready for review” mean that they haven’t looked at my application at all, that would mean that they could soon ask me for additional documents when they do?
@intstudent2021 They won’t ask for any additional documents because, technically, the deadline for them to ask and for you to provide any document passed three days ago. I guess you’ll just have to wait a little more for them to process your files then throw back at you; it takes time for them to process everyone, “ready for review” meaning that you’re on the list of complete applications they have to evaluate.
@Theoddorre Congrats! What Faculties?
Yeah I have been checking almost every day since I applied, so you can imagine me going just a bit insane over the wait. It’s easier to be patient when you know when you’ll get an answer, like with the American universities
@politcaldoctor both of my acceptances were for the faculty of science.
I just got rejected by JHU and Pomona yesterday, and accepted by UCLA. It felt good to be accepted by McGill.
@Theoddorre That’s awesome.
Congrats on the acceptance by UCLA. I got rejected from JHU yesterday too and I am still waiting for a rejection from Duke
I am kind of counting on McGill and not having the answer yet, even though I applied almost 4 months ago, is not helping my patience
Do any of you have any opinions on being too long on the Reviewed - Decision Pending status?
Could that indicate that my application is not “good enough” and they are hesitating? ( Had this since Jan 20th)… Thanks
Accepted students, can you access the student housing application on minerva? will it appear for everyone at the same time or will it only appear once someone’s accepted?
@123mkon My S’s Minerva portal says he has to accept the offer of admission before the housing option will open up.
“Applicants must accept a University Admission offer before accepting the University Housing offer. Please complete acceptance procedures on Application Status page and then return to this page.”
@Theoddorre did you receive an email for acceptance or did you just check Minerva
@samhall checked Minerva and an hour later I received an email.
So, my application to Faculty of Science and Interfaculty of Arts and Science has been stuck at Reviewed-Decision Pending for 3 months. I just saw the post that explained the codes and it seems like this means I’m not accepted until I get an interview?? Can anyone explain what this might mean and what I should do now? (I did get accepted to Arts and Management already.)
@greeksalad123 the page that describes the interview process is only for the faculty of medicine. For undergrads it means your academics are more solid than those rejected, not as strong as those accepted and they are filling out the class with people like you in the grey area. When they figure out whether you’re the grey area worthy of acceptance or rejection, they’ll let you know. No interviews.
Applied Jan 15th
Uploaded 1st semester grades Feb
Faculty of Arts
Admitted Pending Final Results
IB predict 37 / 45.
So I applied for BA on January 13, and minerva’s checklist showed my recommendation letters for the scholarship program on February 16. Anyone who applied around the same time and has heard back?
PS i’m an international student.
