McGill Decisions Class of 2021 (entering 2017)

@greeksalad123 Congratulations! Did you submit mid-year grades and if so, how long after that did you receive a decision?

@klb222 I submitted my first marking period grades when I submitted my application in late December (@ December 20). I didn’t wait for them to ask me for them; I just included them in the application.

Has anyone from outside Canada and the US heard from admissions? My status still says “Ready for review”…

nope @CosmicMaria. No change…yet.

@TheCreation wonder when we’ll hear something

@greeksalad123 When did you get a decision?

@klb222 I heard yesterday and applied on December 20. The admissions office was closed for the holiday so I’m guessing people will start to hear in the coming weeks. I still haven’t heard from Faculty of Science and Interfaculty of Arts and Science. (I applied to 4 programs because I wasn’t sure which one was best for me.)

@CosmicMaria Seems like it may take a while.

If you notice that @greeksalad123 has superior stats, way above all the minima. That type of applicant gets an early decision. The closer you are to the minima the longer you have to wait.

I was wondering, my sat scores are all above minima except for the reading, which is 30 points below the requirements (when converted into old sat standards), my sat 2 are way above minimum requirements (720 math level 2 and 800 french) and I have a 4.0 GPA. My SAT’s though are 630 math, 630 writing and 590 reading. I am applying to the faculty of the arts from the US, but I am a French citizen. Do I even have a chance of getting in ?? Because I know McGill looks only at numbers.

I applied Sept 1st and they asked for my first semester grades mid-November. I sent those in the day they came out (which was Jan 3) and was accepted less than 24 hours after I submitted them. I accepted the offer the same day because McGill was my first choice school.

Do the uploaded grades to be considered for review have to be officially from the school? I’m confused about that… the site says we only need an official transcript if admitted.

No. I submitted mine from my school’s student grade access website and it was accepted.

This is a little off topic but I’m hoping someone on here might know…is it true that final exams at McGill are commonly worth 75% of the course grade for the semester?

I submitted my semester 1 grades on December 24th and I still haven’t gotten a decision. I have an unweighted GPA of 4.0 and weighted 4.609, and 33 ACT score. I go to high school in the US, but from the sound of it a lot of people with similar stats to me got accepted much faster after uploading their grades. Anyone have any idea what the reason for this might be? Could it be because the transcripts I submitted were unofficial? Status still says ‘further review required’

Make sure all of the required documents are in. (Scroll down in Minerva.) It may also have to do with which program/faculty you applied to. Best of luck!

@ClGsOpF0722 I also go to a high school in the US, our grades have to be mailed to McGill and it usually takes about 10 days for them to receive them. Has a new requirement popped up under your “checklist”? If your semester grades are the only thing missing, it’s likely because they haven’t received or processed them yet. Also, I know faculty of science/engineering hasn’t accepted a lot of people…no one from my school or on this thread at least.

@steminem4122 I uploaded mine online using a copy of my transcripts I obtained from a self serving online grade book my school uses. It says they were received on the date that I uploaded them, but I also sent an official copy in the mail after my school got off of winter break, so I suppose it is possible that the process was slowed down by my submitting them twice. I applied to Arts and Arts and Science and haven’t gotten a decision for either
