S. Op: Just a word of advice- if you have to mail something to Canada, it takes a long time using regular mail- about one week from here in Vermont to Montreal. The Canadian Post Office does not work on the weekends- not even moving mail between the border and distribution points. We send anything that has to get there priority mail- it costs a little more, but gets there in two or three days. I know you are anxious to get all the info in for your application.

Thanks for your input. I will fax if at all possible, and if not I will try my best to heed your advise.

To Spikemom-
Regarding the further review required.........that's what my son got. Surprising after he was declined from Arts and Sciences not owing to further review or low grades (brag time 106.4 GPA ) but to lack of space-guess he was good enough to be considered first go around-who knows? Again-it may have been his combo of US and full IB -
We called McGill as did his IB coordinator-that's when we found out that all they wanted was his projected IB grades.
Call McGill and ask them what they mean by "further review required"-could be something very simple as it was with my son. Stay on it if your child really wants McGill. It willl pay off.
Good luck to you.

As to deposits-actually-even after my son was accepted-all we sent was the housing deposit and perhaps another small registration deposit. He and we were still vacillating.
These small deposits-I think $1000.00 for housiing and perhaps $200 for registration held his space.
I'm glad we sent these monies as the space was held and he did register in August of 2005.
If you have any wish at all to attend McGill and you have been accepted-send the minimum deposit-and your space will be held.

thanks bklynmom - DS just had finals last week and first semester grades have not been recorded and mailed yet. His GC will call me when they are ready so I can overnight the grades (I have had the same experience with Canadian mail as mcgilldad). I have assumed they were waiting for those grades, but I think I will give a call next week.

sheetmusic, i have the same problem. my application still says "ready for review" and i think it's because i'm an ib student. it doesn't say that i need to submit any ib scores though, and i'm pretty sure that my ib program submits the scores to all programs that you apply to. i'm going to go talk to my ib coordinator soon, and see what's going on. does anybody not in ib still say "ready for review?" ib is so aggravating. i feel it really slows down the evaluation process.

Yeah - my application is supposedly complete, so it would be really annoying if they were waiting for predicted scores. I don't even know when we get our predicted scores. McGill has my AP scores from last year. It's frustrating that they would be able to make a decision for me now based on even less information (the SAT's, AP's, etc that every other US applicant has) but because I am taking extra tests and doing more work I get evaluated later and held to a different standard. I guess I'm just bitter.

The other half-dozen or so applicants from my school (also all IB) still have "Ready for Review" too.

I still have Ready for Review -- not an IB student either

Spetsnaz Op,
Just email admissions and within two weeks it should be cleared up. My S also has items outstanding for 9th grade transcript. We emailed admissions on 1/18 stating that the transcript is included on his current high school transcript. We are now only waiting for the Minerva update since they replied yesterday (1/30):

Dear Applicant,

Normally, McGill requires applicants to submit transcripts from each secondary and postsecondary institution attended. We are not able to accept transcribed results as official.

For US High School applicants, however, McGill only requires results from grades 10 through 12. Your grade 9 transcript, therefore, will be removed as mandatory.

Please continue to check the status of your application non Minerva (www.mcgill.ca/minerva-students) on a regular basis.

thx plantree, sent the email a few hours ago when I got your message in my inbox :)

Just realize they are slooooow. They still haven't updated the status even though they said they would and it took them almost 2 weeks to reply. However, I'm sure they're swamped and will take care of it ASAP.
Good luck!

I'm a canadian student (in the west), and I sent all my stuff in by the deadline (Feb 1). My McGill status just changed today from "pending" to "Ready for Review". I'm an IB student, and I also applied for a major scholarship, so I don't know how much time that will take...

I can't wait to hear from them. My top two choices are UBC and McGill, and because of my grades I can pretty much go anywhere in Canada. I definetly enjoy not having to go through all the US application stuff! I only did one US app and it took FOREVER.

Good luck to everybody, and maybe see you next year?

They changed my status already. I hope your son's status has been updated...I did not recieve an email reply but I checked at random and it was changed to recieved - don't wait for an email response to check :)

edit: I just realized that my counselor recently sent my updated transcript with my final semester grades....maybe they recieved that before recieving my email and made the change then. There is no way for me to tell for sure but judging by the fact that they have yet to respond to my email it seems at least mildly likely.

The status for my S changed to Redy for Review last week but changed again Monday to Further Review Required. We emailed them as to what is needed, but no reply yet.

I'm pretty sure that if you get this response now and are fairly sure ou've done everything correctly up to this point than the "further review required" is probably because they are waiting for your first semester grades. I wouldn't worry about it though since your school should be sending that out to them provided they know you're applying to McGill. It seems to take them a while to eneter things into their computer system even after they've recieved items by mail.

I was accepted yesterday for both management and arts. Anyone else from the U.S. receive notification yesterday?

I checked my Minerva at about 4 pm and my status had changed to accepted from ready for review. I got an email later that night around 8pm saying to check my status online because they had reached a decision. The email said a letter would be coming soon to confirm the decision. I applied on September 2nd by the way, in case they are going in any sort of chronological order.
