McGill University Class of 2012/2013

Nice, yeah it doesn’t get much more competitive that medicine :P

I had offers from Newcastle, Surrey, Leicester and Exeter for Politics and History… then got into McGill and there was no comparison really ha. I’m also half Canadian, although I’ve never lived there, yet :)

yeah, but hopefully I get in at McGill, even if it takes me 2 more years to become a doctor than it would here! do you speak French?

Yeah no rush ha  I am basically fluent in conversational french, although a bit out of practice.

Ahh cool, I’m fluent but my written grammar sometimes needs a bit of correction :stuck_out_tongue: I’m sort of taking the easy way out by doing an A level in French, I did AS in Jan and doing A2 in June, since that’s one of my 3 subjects, I kinda picked the easy way out haha!

Ha well you’d be silly not to, I did my A level french a few years ago… Our school made us take them early at the same time as 12 GCSE’s so I only got a B :/. I did French B in IB though so getting around Montreal shouldn’t be too tough :)

Ahh right, well I did my AS initially in year 9 and got an A, then last year I decided I wanted to do my A2 in year 13, but since it had been 4 years since the AS and the syllabus had changed they said I’d have to redo AS  so that’s why I’m doing it within a year  though my family over in Canada think it’s weird that I speak English with almost a totally British accent, then come out with a thick Qu

Is there really that much difference between QC french and French french?

Well, the language itself no not really, but the accent is really quite different, so I find it easier to understand a Quebecois accent than a French accent. I guess it’s kind of like the difference between American English and English English - the accent, figure of speech, expressions etc. And some terms are different, like in my French exams I’m not really supposed to say le magasinage, le depanneur, la fin de semaine - I’m supposed to say what the French would say, so le shopping, le weekend, and I think superette is the French equivalent to depanneur. You get the idea! :)

i want a decision! do they decide in order from first to apply or anything specific because i applied in september and i uploaded my midyear report on december 18?

I applied super early and my status still says “ready for review.” Hasn’t changed to further review required even though my mid year report will be sent later this week.

Mine still says ready for review, since early Nov, I just wanna know now, I’ve had enough of waiting!!!

My status just changed to “further review required” and a list appeared for me to add my semester 2 grades that come out later this week!! How much longer once they receive your grades does it take for them to make a decision? Do your statistics matter when it comes to the speed at which they make a decision/the order they review applicants?

i applied to Science (Physical science) and Arts&Sci

i applied in october and my status is still Ready for Review. I did really badly in ap bio (B-) and i hope they just dont throw me out of the pile because of that. But I also took two years of chemistry and physics and surpass the requirement for math (my school is a math and science concentrated school). I just really hope they take me.

Anyone reviewed- decision pending?

Doesn’t the status go directly to “admitted pending final result”?

Do you get an email if your status has changed?

@Zerina12 Yes you do.

Thanks! Is there any particular order in how they sent out admission decisions?

Do you they online notify online or will they send out letters as well?

@rmcappetta: Any decision online is considered “unofficial”, they will send a formal letter of acceptance

@zerina: They notify you if they make an admission decision. Your status might change (ex:further review required) and you will not be notified. So you must check Minerva!
