what is noelle, at first i though christmas, but then i realized thats german, so feminie ending wouldnt work, and there should be an umlat

it's my name ;)

the french word for christmas is No

oh, cool, alright, i thought noel was german, the umlat in english seperates syllables, im didnt know french had them, cool

I think it's both french and german. haha honestly I have no idea. I didn't even realise the umlat was part of the french words and stuff until I saw it plastered all over signs and stuff when I got here.

LOL I have a final exam in 20 minutes..so I probably should not be on the internet. argh...i seriously suck at this "studying" concept ;)

noelle

One more question-

Classes are taught in English, aren't they? Or are they all French?

the classes are in english, there are language courses in thier target language, lots of french literature ones, and i know they have classes in german, at least thats what the website says

McGill and concordia = english universities = english classes (with foreign languages being the notable exception)

Universit

Chances for me?

SAT best combined: 1340. One sitting: 1300
GPA: 3.4 or about 85-87%
Rank: top 30%

You mentioned that you cannot work off camous if you are not a Canadian citizen and bilingual, but I am a bilingual (French, of course) American citizen, would they let me work off campus?

you would have to get a work visa i think, your probably in though the gpa makes it wolly

Hello all-

I've got a quick question... does McGill accept essays? I know that they're not required by the university, but could one send a college essay anyway along with the optional recommendations? Or would they just throw it in the "circular file"?

Any answers at all would be much appreciated. Thanks bunches.

as far as i recall they aren't required but if you want to send them you can. i don't know to what extent they are viewed though...something tells probably not in many cases.

why do you feel a need to submit essays?

Well, I took the SAT and got a decent score (1310) but like you said its a big gap. I mean I am most certainly a verbal person. So I took them again, hoping to bounce up that math score. But i'm really much better at writing an essay. Plus McGill is my first choice so i want to give them as accurate of a representation of me as a student as possible.

hmm, its a tough one, but they are a numbers school

numbers, numbers, numbers. psh. SATs are so one dimenstional. thats why I'm wondering about the essay bit. I mean I did okay i guess, hopefully this time around ill break 1400. My SAT II's are fine they're all in the 700's and I'm in the top 10% of the class w/ a 3.8.... but will that be enough?! (I'm stressing can you tell?) hmmm Maybe interviews... does anyone know anything about interviews?

if you are in the upper 1300s, with your test scores and GPA you're in. relax :) There aren't any interviews, unless you're applying for like the faculty of music or something. Take a deep breath, you are going to be fine. i got in with a 590 math SAT I score (my sats were 1320, with an ACT of 31), was also in top 10% of class, etc. you will be just fine.

Aww gee thanks harpgirl you're sweet, but I'm just that stressy kinda gal. Hey, I've got another question, if you guys aren't tired of answering my endless queries. Where else did/ are you applying? I'm in dire need of another safety school (I'm already applying to American) and I'm trying to get the heck out of dodge (i.e. VT). Any suggestions?

if you want to stay in montreal, try concordia u. you will be able to get into there.

What about US schools.... I'm just looking for big schools in big cities.

I applied to UBC, UAlberta, Uvictoria, and western washington university in addition to McGill. Accepted at all of them with a 31 act, 1320 SAT, 3.99uw GPA, 4th in class. no need to write essays or list ECs.

UBC admissions are similar level to McGill,s, while UAlberta and Uvic are decidedly easier. unless you are in state there is no reason to apply to western washington. LOL. if you're looking east coast Canada for schools like McGill there's Queens, but their admission is similar to Mcgill, Western Ontario, which is a bit easier, and some smaller schools like Concordia, St. Francis Xavier (way better school than concordia but not as good a location), University of Guelph, etc.

So all of you guys are applying to only canadian schools?
