So.. it looks like im going to need to take a summer session class.. o well

anyways, how bad would MCWP 50 be during summer? I mean my other option (SE 2) isnt necessarily great, but I assume that writing papers in a compression session would be very difficult. Can anyone give some insight as to what its like?

Did you get any answers to your question? Because I know someone who is taking muir 50 and chem 6C this summer together in one session but she doesn’t know how difficult it will be.

This might be a bit late but I took this class during the school year so i’m not exactly sure, so here’s kind of my take on it. MCWP 50 is a class where you write your own research paper on a specific subject you chose with in the topic, so it gives you a lot of freedom depending on your topic. One I know about is wayward women which basically let’s you talk about anything regarding women, it can be body image in media or feminist shifts, just anything specific and manageable. So the difficulty of the class can depend both on your interest and writing ability. I’m a big procastinator so I typically wrote my papers the day before they were due, so the compressed time shouldn’t be too much of an issue as long as you don’t need very long periods to write. You also get several drafts to slowly refine your paper. The main time crunch is the annotated bibliography that requires you to gather secondary sources (books, articles, etc), write about the content and how it will relate to your essay, so the time for summer should give you less time so it’d be wise to start early gathering and reading sources and it should be fine. Main problem is taking time to write a deep and clear essay, so as long as you spend some time on it and seek TA’s advise, it shouldn’t be too bad especially since during the summer you have less distractions and can focus on mainly just that class. Instead, of how I balanced calculus and chem and another GE, which made me neglect my writing. Yet, it tends to be graded more fairly as I still got a B, since a lot of it is your argument and can be part bs honestly as long as it sounds convincing with legitimate sources and analysis to back it up.
