Me & Brown

Hi! I should probably be working on my Brown Personal Statement, but after I retook the SAT I was wondering if you could give me your opinions on my chances of getting a nice big acceptance letter from Brown. I’ve posted my stats before and yes, no one here is an admissions officer, but I would like to know what my strengths and weaknesses are.

Female
Small competitive international school in Central Europe.
Nationality: Czech/Canadian

I’m doing the IB program, which is comparable to the AP program.

Senior Classes and Current Grades:

IB HL English - A
IB HL History - A+
IB HL Theatre Arts - A
IB Math - B
IB Biology - A
IB German - A

I am involved in extracurriculars like Model United Nations (governing officer), Varsity Girls Soccer (Captain), Theatre productions, Irish lessons, Czech Lessons, Piano (10 years), Habitat for Humanity (approx. 60 hours).

I received our school’s Award for Excellence in History last year, and I’m a pretty insane history buff  Btw, I plan on majoring in history.

I also won our school’s annual speech contest last year.

SAT: 800CR/640M/740W

I’m taking the subject tests on saturday: German, Bio, Literature. I’m pretty confident about them and i’m hoping for 700+ in each.

Teacher Recs: both amazing
Counselor Rec: should be pretty good

Essay: in progress, but i’m determined to make it excellent.

oh, and my GPA is about 3.8 unweighted.

I can't really say for sure whether you're a good candidate or not...your grades seem strong, but that also depends on what the average grades were received for the classes, being that some schools may have tougher IB classes than others (our school's IB Bio, for example, is quite tough).

You seem like a pretty strong candidate, but applying to colleges is always a crapshoot, so you never know.

cool, thanks for the feedback. Our school is really tough and most of the IB classes are pretty brutal.... yet interesting, lol.

so, anyone else have advice?

That is really all there is to be said...

There is nothing more to do but apply...

haha yeah, applying would be a good ideas :) I'm a compulsive chancer... admitting it is the first step, lol.

You have a really good chance...but like everyone else said, it's a crap shoot.

Make sure to write a killer essay about your passion in history, and just hope for the best.
