yeah, but i need the freedom to drive and go wherever i want. it would be extremely uncomfortable for me to have my parents pick me up...

Er, walk? or ride the bus? It's urban so I imagine the bus system is decent.
Eh, maybe I'm just biased b/c I don't have a car, but driving in LA would seem like a pain in the ass.

driving in LA IS a pain in the ass. it takes hours just to go like... 30 miles.

k, guys, my friends and i were having this argument. they say that ucla is located in south central, in other words, a bad area but has a nice campus while usc is located near beverly hills. i know that ucla has a nice campus, but ist located in the downtown area like my friends said?

OKAY NO hahahhaha (sorry not making fun of you)

but USC is in the ghettos. UCLA is in WESTWOOD ------ really rich area

Which is by Beverly Hills (you got them switched ;))

GRRREAT....so either they were wrong or i was wrong....

wow... that totally made my day!!!! xD
and blackandwhite... if you aren't a commuting student...
say goodbye to having a car. unless you're willing to work for parking, or you got regents or alumni scholar, it ain't gonna happen.
unfortunate, but true.
you could apply anyway, just on the 1% chance that it happens. you could also lie and say you have an off-campus job, but that can backfire bigtime if they catch you.
or you can do as my roommate does: street-parks on gayley by the dorms (no meters) and just moves it for streetcleaning and (tries to) avoid tickets. she never uses it except to go home, however, for fear of losing the spot

well last time I went to UCLA I noticed there is like 60 people per floor for dorms and like 10 floor each building so I was pretty sure we can't drive our cars there... yeah its kinda a bummer if you had a car for the past 2 or 3 years and have to gave it up especially when we live like 1.5 hour away from UCLA... blackandwhite, I had the same reaction when I first heard about it but I concluded that its very logical...

well, im goona be out of state, soooo its all goood

You will only have a chance at a parking pass if you ..

commute (many miles away, not nearby)

jave an off campus job

have an off campus emergency situation

what is considered many miles away? how many minutes/miles constitutes as being far enough?

oh man i didn't realize it was that hard to get a parking pass ...

i really cant imagine not having my car ... ahhh !

i wonder what they consider off campus emergency situations ?

Dunno, sickly mother on the other side of town? Something like that.

I'd get used to it, plus, not having a car will cut down on worries quite a bit (cost, finding parking, trying to "drive" in LA)

yeah .. i'm pretty much already accustomed to traffic myself , so i still see it as inconvenient . i do have a family situation which may suffice as an emergency off campus situation .. i guess we'll see how the cookie crumbles .

Far enough that public transportation cannot take you home in an ethical sense.

You'll survive. And be in the habit of asking people for rides.

okay so... say i live 45 minutes away. is that a good enough reason?

so not anyone could get a parking pass?! my parents bought me a freaking new car..ahhhh crap.

and are there a lot of street parking.. cause i'm willing to walk a couple blocks...

No cars eh...I dunno wut I'll do I'm from a small city...200,000 pple so driving is quite easy and nice...L.A. however.. I dunno how I'll handle riding buses and whatnot

OOHH! what is this deal about health...insurance?
