Meal Plans and BRBs

So what meal plan would you guys recommend?

Also I'm a little confused about BRBs. If you don't spend all of it, you don't get the money leftover back or transferred to the next semester do you? And where can and can't you use BRBs?

I think it depends on who you are. My D has one of the lower options that is allowed a freshman. She gets 10 meals/week plus $500 BRBs/semester. I think BRBs do transfer over each semester if there are any left but leftover meals do not and in fact are deleted each week.

You can always increase your meal plan without penalty. You do pay a change fee if you move down. the first 2 weeks were the hardest, then 10 meals for her turned out to be perfect. She found that she generally had dinner every day during the week in the dining hall (RPCC) with one meal (brunch or dinner) on each day of the weekends. That allowed for some lunches at dining halls on campus and other ones using BRBs. One time/week or so she would go out to CCB or to the cheap pizza place near it. Most days she ate breakfast in her room if at all so she did not need 14 or 21 meals to be sure. The BRBs filled in on the days when she wanted a meal but was not near a dining hall. She also found that on lab days, she did not have time to eat lunch so would bring fruit or snacks from dinner the night before with her to eat.

Guys on the other hand tend to eat more often and some kids don’t want to hassle with how many meals they are allowed. If my son goes there, he would die on 10 meals per week! I think there were some good threads on this last year that provided opinions. If you are on financial aid, they pay for full meal plan I think. We chose not to spend money on meals she does not eat.

oops–that should say CTB–Collegetown Bagels. Can’t remember the name of the cheap thin crust pizza place. Anyone?
