meal plans: commuter vs. residential

So I bought the middle commuter plan (100 meals anytime during the semester). Nowhere on the site did it say I had to actually be a commuter to get this plan. They even accepted our card payment, it's gone through and everything.

But I got a phone call from Dining Services today telling me that I can't get it because I'm living in Libra (as in I'm not a commuter and/or I don't have a kitchen). I have to wait until tomorrow to call back and get things sorted out but...

has anyone heard of them allowing residential students to get commuter blocks?

The smallest residential plan is 10 meals a week (expires each week) and frankly I'm not going to eat 10 of their meals in a week. It's $665 more than the plan I bought and it doesn't fit what I'm looking for at all, so half of those meals would be wasted.

What are my odds of being an exception if I explain this to the Dining Services people? Because really it doesn't seem like it'd make a difference... the meals are bought in the same place in the same manner no matter what plan you have.

Any thoughts?

Don't bother with the meal plan as is. You can either JUST purchase flex bucks plus which do not expire OR just put the money that you would have used for a meal plan onto purse 2 and use your ucf card as a debit in the cafeteria (put in your pin) OR purse 1 and keep refilling it to the $100 mark. It will be cheaper for you in the long run.

Yea, I straightened it out this morning. The lady there (Sherry?) was very nice and said this happened a lot, and she can definitely see where I'm coming from with 10 meals a week being a waste.

She recommended I put it with flex bucks plus, and that's what I did. I think that'll be better even than the commuter plan I wanted, since like seiclan pointed out, they don't expire.

And the 10% discount helps. $878 just turned into $975 and I can use it anywhere, not just the Marketplace or Knightros.
