Mechanical Engineering Incoming Freshman

Hey!

I've gotten a really late start on course registration because I was away for most of the summer. Hope you guys can help me!

Penn Engineering sent me a packet with "Recommended Courses for the First Semester" for Mechanical Engineering and they were:

EAS 105
Math 104
Chem 101 (section 4 or 5)
Chem 053 Lab
MEAM 110
MEAM 147 Lab

Does this seem right? Is there anything else you would recommend?
I was a little surprised because I thought there would be at least some English or other Liberal Arts class in my schedule. Also, I thought it would be physics instead of Chem.
Additionally, not sure if this makes a difference, I definitely want to do a study abroad program. Are there any requirements I would have to take care of now if i want to do that? And do I have to take the language if I go abroad?

So many questions! Sorry.

Thanks.

You have room enough in that schedule for a writing seminar, if you want to get over with it.

uh no don’t try to cram a writing seminar in there

that’s a pretty standard schedule, the bulk of your fellow mechanical engineering frosh classmates will be taking those same exact classes (or slightly different, depending on ap credit)

talk to the study abroad office about planning your schedule, but at this point it’s probably too early to worry about that

Looks exactly what one of my MEAM friends took as a freshman. 105 is gonna be fun :)
