I've seen so many people on CC saying, 'Oh, this school has 90% acceptance rate!!"

and guess what, that's a bunch of ********. This seems to contradict what alot of ppl are saying in this forum, but I have two points to back this up:
1) my own, personal opinion (not so important)
2) their REAL HARD stats RIGHT ON THE SCHOOLS' OFFICIAL WEBSITE.

1) IMO, NO SCHOOL ACHIEVES 90%, because med school largely depends on the individual applicants. National, AAMC-generated stats indicate that if you have high GPA and MCAT, you generally have a high chance of getting into a med school. Evidence right here (http://www.medsci.pomona.edu/ppt/selecting%20medical%20schools%2011.pdf look through the slides u'll find the grid. AND LOOK AT THE MED SCHOOL ADMIT FACTORS... college selectivity is ranked as "considered")
It is true that more selective schools have better acceptance rates. BUT NOT BECAUSE THE SCHOOL IS BETTER, (well okay sorry it DOES matter, but that's not the MAIN reason.) The real reason is because by VIRTUE OF U GETTING in to those good schools, you've already proven that you could do work and therefore there's a higher chance that you will do better on GPA and MCAT and therefore there's a higher chance you will get into med school.

2) that's IMO, and you guys are welcome to totally disagree with that and call me a lier. Whatever. BUT ARE YOU GOING TO DISAGREE WITH WHAT THE SCHOOL SAYS?

Pomona - people say they have 90% plus acceptance rate. While I really like this school, their website certainly disagrees with that statement. http://www.medsci.pomona.edu/ppt/selecting%20medical%20schools%2011.pdf look thru the slide and u'll find it.
John Hopkins - 93% according to some on this forum. Sorry, but BS. JHU Pre-Professional Advising ehh... MORE LIKE 63 PERCENT PPLS.
UPENN - this one i'm not sure. They say it's 84 %, but on the same website, diff. link, they say it's 71 percent. STILL GOOD, but BS FOR THE 90% MYTHS. Career Services, University of Pennsylvania
Swarthmore - I love this school but... it says it's 80% when it's actually 75%.
UCLA - more like 58 %.... Overview of 2010
WUSTL - they say 90%... more like 71 percent. http://medprep.wustl.edu/files/medprep/Pre-Health_Handbook.pdf on last page

and there are some other schools that LIE but I'm too tired right now to type:(

Of course, for all of you more experienced folks out there, FEEL FREE TO CORRECT ME, I MAY BE WRONG. but I just want to say that the 90% myths are ****s. Hope I didn't offend anyone :P
