Hi,

I am a recent college graduate and am in the process to applying to medical school. UCLA is one of my top choices, and I think I have a realistic (though far from guaranteed) shot at getting in.

For those of you at UCLA (ugrad, grad, med, etc), I was curious as to what kind of presence the medical students have on campus and if there is any interaction with the ugrad life. (i.e. I'm not going to be showing up at your frat parties, but do many med students use the weight room, go to the fball/bball games, get involved mentoring pre-meds, etc.) I would greatly appreciate any input.

i have not outwardly seen any on campus. im sure they are there, though.

i’ve seen people in scrubs at the gym occasionally

Played basketball with a resident at the hospital (Saxon) once. We get some interaction from med students who are former members of my department (they did their undergrad here, etc.) I’m sure that a pre-med society won’t turn additional help from a med school student though.

i have a few friends who are now med students at ucla. they have classes in the CHS building. you wouldnt know that they were med students unless you asked them because they look like any other normal college student on campus and they blend right in. quite a few clubs also allow you to be partnered up with med student mentors, or give the opportunity to be involved in community service activity with med students, or have q&a panel with them, etc etc etc
