Mediocre Grades, Chance Me For Any School!

Hi, College Confidential! If possible, I'd like some peace of mind, considering that my grades are substantially lower than the average high schooler's. Keep in mind that I am also a Junior who has not taken the SAT/ACT yet, but I was hoping I could have some guidance for steps to take in the coming months and next year. Basically, I want to look more attractive to colleges, but I'm afraid my GPA will hinder my options. I was hoping someone would be able to offer a second opinion.

Keep in mind that when I mention "three semester science," that I am on a remedial track. I was enrolled in Earth Science all of my freshman year, and for one semester in my Sophomore year, while the other semester that year I took Biology. This year, I am completing my last year in Biology.

Also, beginning in my Sophomore year, I was switched to a remedial math track.

Electives are half year courses.

Lastly, my public school's consistently scored top rankings on Newsweek's Report for high schools nationwide, so perhaps there is a bit of a reputation there...?

(I opted to take less classes this year to focus on my schoolwork. Also, with a recent diagnosis of ADD, I'll have medicine at my disposal and hopefully my grades will improve. I will also be tutored in preparation for the SAT/ACT.)

(I'm not sure whether I should take a science or not, since I won't be able to qualify for regents/state level credit in Chemistry, which, for my state, is very important. Instead, I would take General Chemistry, which is essentially useless.)

Thank you so much for any help! :) I really appreciate it, and would be happy to Chance back to the best of my opinion.

start studying for the sat now, it may help balance out your GPA. idk if you mentioned what state your from, but a good state school might be an option. chapman is a good school, as is LMU in california, LMU might be a reach but it’s worth applying.

I agree that I should hit the SAT books as soon as possible! And I’m a New Yorker :)

I have been looking at SUNY schools, but none of them have struck a chord so far, with the exception of SUNY Purchase. However, I recently read some negative things about the school, so I have a little doubt.

Still, thank you so much! I’ll definitely check the schools you recommended.
