I'm planning on getting a memory foam mattress pad from overstock.com. However, I'm not sure what thickness I should get. I'm not sure if the sheets would be able to fit the pad if I get a thick one (3"). What does everyone suggest?

2-3" is ideal. And sheets with deep pockets will fit everything fine.

3 usually does the trick for me. If your bed is a twin you can get the largest size since for most models all sizes cost the same and double it over to double the thickness.

I had a 4’’ memory foam topper, learned my lesson the hard way.
DONT get anything thicker than 2’‘. I had a 4’’ one and it pretty much wrapped around me. (too soft)
and with 2 people on it, lets just say it wasn’t pleasant.
had to ditch it after a month.

I have seen the 4" - the thing comes in a huge box. The point of a memory foam mattress is to be convenient. I bought a 1 and a 1/2 and its not too big that I would have trouble getting it into my dorm. Neither is it uncomfortable - it feels great! Its just the right combination.

2" is probably safe.
