Mercer

What's it like?

Apparently it’s the oldest(?) dorming hall at UW. I don’t know too much about it but from friends who lived there, they said the walls are pretty thin, so it’s easy to hear whats going on in the rooms around you (upstairs, downstairs, down the hall). Sorry, can’t give you a personal testimony of how it’s like.

not to bum you out or anything but easily the worst dorm on campus. Yes, I realize not everyone likes the same things, but ehhh, there’s a reason they’re tearing it down soon. That being said, it’s a dorm. You’re not living there for the comfort.
Welll it has Mercer Field, which has a bonfire area, volleyball net, and some room for pickup soccer and football games.

The walls may be thin, but I can personally attest that the walls are paper thin in all the dorms I’ve been in, so that’s not unique to Mercer. It is commonly referred to as the worst dorm, but I’ve been inside and it’s not that bad. Nor is it as far away from campus as people say - it’s basically the exact same location as Terry/Lander since it’s a minute walk from Terry to Mercer.

I have a single room in Mercer. So maybe it wouldn’t be that bad. Haha.

not to nitpick, but Terry-Lander to Mercer is one minute if you’re sprinting. And even that may be a stretch. That being said, just leave a few minutes earlier!

Really? I had a friend in Mercer who I’d visit and I just left from the back exit of Terry and it seemed like I was practically there already. But as you said, not a big deal either way :)

@compactrunner: Thanks for the info about walls! xP

Apparently people call it the dungeon because some of the windows are barred? Just what I heard though.

in my experience, everyone hates it and says it’s the worst dorm on campus… except the people who lived there! haha. i know a couple people who were quite content there.

i also got a single in mercer

also got a single in mercer. ughhhhh. hate it.

I’m in Mercer too. From what I’ve heard, people in Mercer tend to end up really close. See you guys around.
