Hi. I thought I read somewhere on UW’s website that Honors offers some out of state tuition waivers for Honors students. Does anyone know anything about that? Specifically, how/when he would find out he received it, if he was lucky enough? thanks for your help.
Here it is. Looks like it may only cover a part of the freshman year’s OOS tuition. Contact the Office of Student Financial Aid for details.
Honors Achievement Award - nonresident tuition waiver
These merit-based nonresident tuition waivers are awarded to a select group of incoming nonresident freshmen applicants and provide a partial waiver of nonresident tuition, excluding summer term. These are one-time, non-renewable awards. This award cannot waive exchange program, study abroad, or UPASS fees. Any student studying away from UW must contact the Office of Student Financial Aid to determine the applicability of their aid towards program costs.
Only non-Washington State US residents are eligible for consideration.
How do you get it? Is it after freshamn year? I got the purple and gold OOS scholarship and honors program acceptance
@jackisawesome I got the honors achievement award in my acceptance letter, listed alongside the purple & gold scholarship. I got full OOS tuition waived for two years; for freshman and sophomore year
the regular acceptance letter, or the honors one?
@jackisawesome I received both my acceptance letter and the honors acceptance letter in the same envelope (big, golden envelope). All my financial awards were listed on the acceptance letter with the big “CONGRATULATIONS” listed at the top
This is what it said:
“The Honors Program has selected you for an Honors Achievement Award, which waives nonresident tuition for your freshman and sophomore years. Please review the conditions of this award at honors.uw.edu/welcome/achievement-award (UW NetID required)”
I think if you go to that URL and log in, you should be able to tell if you got the award or not
omg what are your stats?!?!?!?! I wish i got that omg
I had a 32 ACT, 780 Math II & 700 Physics, and a 3.99 UW GPA (4.71 W)
