I always found it strange that out of the 8 colleges I have applied and been accepted to thus far, Ohio State is THE ONLY school that has not given me any indication of what type of merit aid I would receive from them if I choose to go there. Every other school included a scholarship offer with their acceptance letter, even the other public schools. Today was the day I received my financial aid offer email. I was shocked to find that I only qualified for a small federal loan! Granted, I wasn’t expecting extensive scholarship money from Ohio State as I know it is a large school, but I thought that with a 34 on my ACT and a transcript heavy with AP and dual enrollment courses, I would at least qualify for their smallest scholarship even if my class rank isn’t that great. Does this really mean that Ohio State is not giving me one penny of scholarship money? Or do I need to enroll before receiving merit aid?

i have not enrolled and received merit aid back in january

how did you find out about it?

Scholarship money usually starts at 28 composite. It is important to note that OSU doesn’t superscore, but I’m reasonably confident you were above that threshold. The merit aid also takes into account GPA and class rank. Even for the lowest scholarship, you have to be top 10% of class. Most notifications for merit aid have already been sent.
