Merit Aid

Hi, I have a question.
What is everyone doing with their scholarships? Do you still have to accept it online on my.american.edu? Or send in the financial aid letter thing in the post? I'm trying to do that online one now but I keep on getting a system error.

cdover - not to pry, but was your 32K all scholarship or was some loan? The highest merit package I have seen so far was 27K. And congrats to you!

That's okay. The 32K was all scholarship, I can't get any need-based aid because I'm international. It does seem high, right?? That's why I'm kinda getting worried that it was some sort of mistake...

my s has 32 too. He is from Germany.

$27,000 Presidential Scholarship & honors

ACT 33
GPA 3.7 unweighted, 4.3 weighted

Heavily considering AU - best merit offer my DS has received.

$20,000 Dean’s Scholarship & Honors

SAT: 1440/1600 and 2240/2400
GPA: 4.0/4.5 unweighted
And I had financial need

At the Freshman Day they said that EVERY student in the honors program gets a merit scholarship, and then a lot of other students not in honors do as well.

Did any of you apply ED? I deff need financial aid but I have really good stats (GPA dipped a bit to 3.8 and 35 ACT plus, SATII Math:720, Literature:800 & US History:800) and I’m a URM (black) you think if I applied ED I’d still be okay financially?

Aside from a Presidential Scholarship to a small womens’ college (which covered everything 100% for 4 years) American was the next best merit offer (and she is taking them up on it!!!).

You’d be competitive for the 27k merit. But with those stats, you really don’t NEED to apply ED.
