Hi I made a post a few days ago about trying to get merit scholarships to the University of Miami as a freshman. There seems to be no way to get them to give me one now so I will be attending McGill University, but still might try to get some merit money to miami as a transfer student.

I found on Umiami's site

"Academic Scholarships*
The University of Miami offers a generous merit scholarship program. Each year, President's Scholarships ranging from $5,000 to $16,000 are awarded to select transfer students. Students considered for an academic scholarship demonstrate substantial academic accomplishment above and beyond the average academic profile of an admitted transfer student.
* The FAFSA is not required to be considered for academic scholarships.

Eligibility
In order to be considered for an academic scholarship, a student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of a 3.75.
A student who is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and receives a UM academic scholarship will be awarded the PTK scholarship."

What would be the best way to approach this? Take easy classes so I can try to get as close to a 4.0 as possible? Or take similar classes that freshman in the program I want to enter at Umiami would be taking? I don't think PTK is at McGill.

Does anyone have experience with merit scholarships for transfer students, it doesn't seem very common.

Thanks in advance

EDIT: I just found a bunch of information on what is needed from transfer students, I should've researched more before posting, sorry.
