They are out. My S received the letter today awarding a $9,000/year merit scholarship. While I believed he qualified after reading the website - its nice to see it in writing.

Letters being sent out may state the following, noting that additional merit aid may be in the final package:

As other have said on this board, [Miami uses the FAFSA](<a href=“Page Not Found on the Users, Units, or Orgs Server | Miami University”>Page Not Found on the Users, Units, or Orgs Server | Miami University) for both need-based and merit aid, so be sure to file the form.

Yes, that is what the letter said. Glad we filed a FAFSA even though I know we won’t qualify for any need-based aid. The more merit the better

I’ve got a question now.

Okay, I’m guessing “holistic” isn’t the name of the game for merit scholarships at Miami U, but I have a 32 ACT and slighly below 3.7 GPA (school barely offers weighted, does not help at all :(). If the merit packages posted by StitchInTime are correct, I am 2 ACT pts. above the cutoff for the 6.5k/yr scholarship, but <.05 GPA points below the cutoff. I also am an Honors admit that will NOT be filing FAFSA, so does taht automatically discount any aid at all at Miami U (reading the info on the link, that did not appear to be the case, but idk).

So, do y’all think Miami U will offer a scholarship? Or not…???

^OHKID:

On the [Honors program scholarship site](Honors College | Miami University) it specifically says the following (note the ‘ALL’ in their text is capitalized):

And from their [url=<a href=“Page Not Found on the Users, Units, or Orgs Server | Miami University”>Page Not Found on the Users, Units, or Orgs Server | Miami University]FAFSA Tips site](http://www.fafsa.ed.gov):

A call/email to your admissions rep will address your specific situation.

Thanks so much, StitchInTime :)

D got a letter this past week saying she would receive a minimum of $6500 as listed on the website. The rest, if any, would come from the FA office.

OHkid,
Not filing FASFA (deadline is missed already) is a huge mistake at Miami U. They strongly recommend (if you read their letters carefully) to file every year to get full range of Merit scholarships. My D. is junior in Honors. Moreover, make sure that you file for Returning student scholarship every year you are at M U. D. has received additional $6500 for sophomore year based on her college GPA and the fact that FASFA was filed. We do not qualify for need based at all, nowhere near. Two huge mistakes that a lot of kids make at Miami are 1. not filing FASFA 2. not applying for Returning students Merit scholarships.

^Thanks for the heads up, MiamiDAP :)

I’ll ask admissions soon, and prowl around the Miami U website some. I also have to move my scheduled Honors overnight and ask about transfer credit, so I’ll be bugging them for a while Oh well…

OHKID: I have a PM for you, but your mail is full.

^So sorry 'bout that… (imagine embarassed smiley)

I just cleaned it out. Apologies to anyone else who I PM’ed, too…

All should be good now :)
