Does anyone have any idea when the Seaver and McKenna Achiever Scholarship finalists will be notified? The CMC admissions website simply says "February" and past posts on CC show that finalists were usually notified by Feb 10th, but I was talking to the CMS XC coach today and he said that CMC was shaking up their scholarship notification method. Any (solid) leads?

And do they fly out the finalists?

Sent from my HTC One X using CC

They have in the past, but when I was talking to the XC coach he said that the admissions office is changing the way they conduct scholarship interviews and may not fly finalists to CMC. Emphasis on the ‘may’. He wasn’t sure one way or another.

The CMC admissions website is pretty vague about the whole process:
“Finalists will be selected in February, at which point they will be contacted by the Office of Admission about next steps in the merit scholarship process.”

Hm okay interesting. Were you accepted ED? It would be nice to get some sort of merit aid since I probably will not qualify for need based…regardless though I just tell my parents it’s an investment :)

Nope, I applied RD by the December 1st merit consideration deadline though.

I think notification is the first week of February based on prior years. Good luck!

i heard from them in mid feb but it took a lot more time for them to clear up the amount of the scholarship…goingback and forth i think it was mid april by the time we got it nailed…atleast thats what i recall right now…

So, has anybody heard yet?

My guess is that we hear (or don’t hear, they previously haven’t emailed those who don’t get them) tomorrow, based on past CC threads. People have usually been notified by email on the first or second Friday of February.

Has anyone heard anything yet? I feel like they will have to notify us very soon if they expect finalists to fly down in mid-March.

Haven’t heard anything yet. Called admissions and the lady on the phone knew absolutely nothing about merit scholarships…

My D is hoping for notification of a merit scholarship — we called the CMC admissions office today and were told that notification would be sent out in the next couple weeks via snail mail . . . !

Any idea how competitive these awards are? (I seem to recall there was no separate application, so it would probably be the top students in the applicant pool?)

Any person who submitted their application on or before 12/1 is eligible for them, and there are some VERY qualified applicants in that group. Just getting into CMC is hyper-competitive, so the merit scholarships have an even more competitive applicant pool.

So no notices yet right?
there’s only like a little more than a week left in Feb.
I’m starting to get a little antsy

Found this on last years thread…

If you were selected as a finalist for the merit scholarship you will be contacted in February with details about the next steps in the scholarship process. If you were not selected as a finalist, you wouldn’t hear from us until we send you an admission decision.

Still haven’t got anything, and there’s only a day left in February… Nothing on the online portal yet either. Not really sure if I’m competitive for the scholarships, but I’d like to think that I am. Anyone else hear anything?

If people were getting the scholarships, there would most likely be at least a few posting here. I’m going to assume that, as long as nobody posts that they got one, nobody has received anything.

I agree, I’d assume that someone would post if Claremont sent anything Thanks for your response. Good luck to you!

Has anybody else recently checked the CMC website regarding merit scholarships? They have removed any mention of finalists being notified in February. I wonder if they’re simply going to send scholarship awards with the admission letters, as many other schools do.
