Hey, when do they start to notify finalists for the McKenna Achievement and Seaver Scholarships? I remember reading somewhere it was early April... Also, would that notification be an official acceptance as well?

I really need one to be able to go to CMC. I would get little to no need based aid I bet.

I feel your pain Nuclearpenguins… and I meant to say that I heard somewhere that it was early February. I guess we can only wait now.

Two years ago my D1 received an email for the scholarship on 2/10 followed up with a snail mail letter - so you shouldn’t have long to wait!!! Good luck.

Thanks for the information NewEnglandMother!

NuclearPenguins -

CMC has a nifty tool on their website that allows you to estimate your financial aid package. I was frankly shocked at the number we got: WAY higher than I would have expected. Plus it’s all grant money as they don’t do loans.

It’s called the Net Price Calculator and the link is the first one on the list on the financial aid home page.

Good luck!

Got mine earlier today via email!

What weekend is the invite?

March 5 and 6.

Did CMC also send an email to your parents (whose email address you also gave on the CommonApp)? My D is overseas and has no access to email, and I am wondering if there is another way for me to find this out earlier. Thanks in advance.

My parents did not receive email notification. But I’m sure they send out notification letters to the home address as well.

Looks like I missed out then, just checked my email and nothing.

Congrats skyr4n!! Are you up for McKenna or Seaver? It’s possible, I suppose, that NuclearPenguins could still be in the running for one of them…

Thanks KShodo, I think all finalists are up for both scholarships. The final decisions on who gets what scholarship are made after the interviews.

Hahaha I’m just hoping that I can even get in

Thank you, skyr4n. Congratulations!

I hope a few more people who got notified can post some info as well. If possible, share with us what’s unique about you that have got you over the “hump!” With the strong increase in the RD pool in CMC, it’s shaping up to be a very “selective” year. TIA.

Kshodo: would you be able to post that link that helps you to estimate your financial aid package. S is a soph and I still have never seen it.

Thanks, and good luck to all of you!

I’m wondering if some current students or students who have recently received their financial packages from CMC can let me know how accurate the “netprice calculator” link on the CMC website was for them. Is it close to what you actually received?

181818 - when you go to the CMC website, then to “financial aid”, on the left hand side is a list of links and “netprice calculator” is the top thing on the list. Upper left of your screen. Would love to know how it compares to your experience!

PUMA - I ran my numbers for my current student and found that my actual cost was lower than the estimate. That is partly because of additional scholarships and my daughter working on campus to cover the “personal expenses” but even so I think my out of pocket was lower by a couple of thousand. YMMV. I have found CMC to be very generous and I wish you luck - you can’t beat the weather! (wish I was there)

Thanks! I’d be happy to share that with you but up until this year we haven’t been dealing with straight forward numbers. I will tell you that the school has been very good about working with us through our “unusual” circumstance. I am actually interested to see how close we will come this year which will be the first time we have a straight forward application.
