Today I spoke with a member of the USC admissions committee. The individual informed me USC packets were mailed this morning to the seniors who will be asked to interview for the Mork, Stamps, Trustee and Presidential Merit Scholarships. The packets were mailed priority mail using the USPS.

In past years the packets arrived the day after in zip codes closest to the university. Since this is Friday I am guessing others will be received on Monday for many in the southern California area.

Best wishes to all of you who have been waiting patiently!

Good luck to all of you! In 2011, we discovered the happy news on the portal after reading that packets had gone out on CC. Last year, the portals weren’t updated until several days after the packets went out.

NC Mom, where on the portal did you find this info? My D logged in and there are no updates, but there are several tabs…which one would have the answer?

There was a link to sign up for Explore USC. As I recall, when you clicked in it a letter popped up that said Congrats you are being considered for the
Presidential Scholarship. I know last year though they purposely activated the link later to give those big fat envelopes a chance to arrive!

Here is the thread from 2011 which details where we looked and what we saw:

My USC connect status is the same, I’m just going to go cry right about now, it is going to be a long weekend and a long next week. sigh

I think I need to face the fact that even with a $15K NMF scholarship for each of my 2 girls, the costs will be too high to send our kids to USC. And, it’s across the country for us so I told them they had to go together to a school that far away. Oh but first, must get admitted… ha, let’s not forget that HUMONGOUS hurdle.

The NMF 1/2-tuition Presidential Scholarship offered by USC (this is a USC scholarship, it is not provided by the NMCorp) for the 2014 class will be $22,801 per year for four years. If the past is our guide, NMF will also receive an additional $1,000/year from NMC for a total of $23,801/year.

That still leaves a LOT to be covered, but it inches a bit closer than $15,000 would! (Also keep in mind that with TWO in college at the same time, you may be eligible for more need-based aid than you anticipate - be sure to complete all FA forms if you think there is any possibility you may qualify for a bit!)

Best of luck - remember, there are SO many wonderful opportunities for all of you amazing applicants! No one packet (or lack of a packet) will define any of you. Great things are ahead.

As posted in response to your same question on another thread:

There were some who received that status in January and Early February who were not invited to interview and were awarded a 1/4 tuition Dean’s scholarship (please note that it is also possible to be invited to interview and receive a Dean’s scholarship or even a Director’s of $4,000/year, so being notified outright of a Dean’s is GOOD news!). The others received invitations to interview.

Please do not make announcements as it is always possible that procedures have changed, but in the past it has been a good sign.

@ alamemom sorry for the duplicate I am just very excited. What percentage would you say would be invited to interview after getting the status change?

Not sure if this answers your question, but on the usc admission facebook page, they said about 30000 people applied by Dec 1, and that they’ll admit 1000 people as finalists for full or half tuition.
So 3 percent of all people.
